Shea Dickie Qualifies for World Armwrestling Lucknow Lancers
League (WAL) Championship in New Orleans
Shea Dickie
Shea Dickie has recently
qualified for the World Arm -
wrestling League (WAL)
Championship in New
Orleans. He is the son of
Irene and William Dickie and
resides on his Grandpa Ira's
old farm north of Lucknow.
Due to the success of the
reality show, Game of Arms,
payouts for armwrestling are
getting big and it has raised an
eyebrow of the biggest sports
network in the world. The WAL
championship on January 10th
in New Orleans, Louisiana, will
be shown shortly thereafter on
ESPN2 in primetime. Also, the
2015 WAL season will air
throughout the year. The cash
payout in New Orleans is
$150,000. To qualify for this
tournament, Shea competed
on October 25th at the Trump
Taj Mahal casino in Atlantic
City entering the finals right
and left hand undefeated. This
was a double elimination for-
mat tournament with a
$25,000 cash payout.
Shea has competed at
venues such as the MGM
Grand in Las Vegas and has

qualified for the World Arm
Wrestling Federation (WAF)
four years in a row by being
among the best in Canada.
He has competed in the WAF
championships the past
three years, travelling to Bra-
sil, Poland and Lithuania.
Shea is the current Canadian
National Champion and
hopes to qualify for the 2015
WAF championships in
Kuala Lampur, Malaysia.
WAF differs from WAL as to
qualify for WAF you must be
first or second in your coun-
try. Anyone can enter the WAL
qualifying tournaments but
only the top 8 from a series of
4 qualifying events through-
out the USA qualify for the
$150,000 tournament in New
Orleans. WAF prizes are med-
als and in many countries,
world champions are national
heroes. Most people in Can-
ada do not know the sport
exists as it has not been widely
popular in North America
since its hayday in the 1980s
when the Hollywood block-
buster, "Over the Top" starring
Sly Stallone was produced.

Lucknow Initiation 2 Team at the Tiverton Tournament
LeeAnn Maki
The Initiation 2 Team
played an amazing 3 games at
the Tiverton Tournament on
January 3, 2015. Our first
game was against the Ripley
Wolves. Our goalie, Braydon
Curran did a fantastic job in
net and only had 3 goals
scored on him. Ewan Johnson
must have had a great break-
fast
reakfast because he scored the first
and second goals assisted by
Colton Maki and Nolan Mof-
fat. Grayden McNee scored
our 3rd goal assisted by Dylan
McNeil. Ewan scored the
4th goal to make it a hat trick
for himself and was assisted
by Alexis Greig. Colton Maki
scored the 5th goal assisted by
Wyatt Frey and Brody Gibson
scored the 6th goal assisted by
Colton. The final goal was
scored by Grayden McNee.
Our second game was
another success with the team
winning against Tiver-
ton. Grayden McNee scored
along with Ewan Johnson
scoring 3 goals and Brody
Gibson scoring 3 goals for a
hat trick. Assists were given by
Colton Maki, Alexis Greig,
Ewan Johnson and Morgan
Rintoul. We had a variety of
goalies for this game and
ended up with a shutout.
For our final game we
played the Kincardine team
and finished the tournament
with a score of 5 to 2. Braydon
Curran did another fantastic
job in net only letting in
2. Goals were scored by
Grayden McNee, Colton
Maki, Ewan Johnson and
scoring her first goal was
Alexis Greig! Assists were
given to Wyatt Frey, Nolan
Moffat and Kyle McGee.
For such a small team we
worked together and displayed
our amazing hockey skills at the
Tiverton Tyke Tournament.

The Lucknow Lancers
have been playing some
pretty good hockey
lately. The last game against
the Ripley Wolves on Satur-
day, December 27, the boys
lost a close one 5-4. The
Lancers had the lead but
could not hold it as the
Wolves were able to come
from behind late in the third
period. It was an excellent
game with back and forth
action. Newly acquired
goalie Blake Smith played
very well in the Lucknow net
making 34 saves. Goal scores
were Rick Andrew, Ben
Gowing, Jamie Miller, and
John Cappell, who has
scored 4 goals in only three
games. Assists went to Evan
Rivett, Rick Andrew, Joel
Alton, Kenny Stanley, and
Taco Baker.

thanking our very valued

occasion as it is Minor Hockey

get in for free and are encour-
aged to wear a Lucknow Jer-
