Carter's Crokinole Report
Peter Carter
Eighteen enthusiastic
crokinole shooters came to
Laney's on Saturday,
February 7, 2015 to enjoy
an afternoon of play. The
attendees range in
age from 20 to 87 and our
group is most happy about
that. We are always
getting new players
attending for the first time
and we welcomed Lorne
Howe - he did well.
Results at the end of the
day were Men's High - Neil
Cook with 62 points, Robert
Bonnett with 58, Ken Hawk-
ins and Peter Carter tied
with 53 for 3rd and Clare
Kuepfer was 4th with 46
points. Clare topped the 20's
score with 47, Robert had 46,
Neil was 3rd with 44 and Al
Carter had 39 for 4th.
The High Lady was Mari-
lyn Thompson with 46
points, Jo -Ann Carter
claimed 2nd place with 40,
Cathy Kuepfer had 39 for 3rd
place and 4th was a tie
between Sarah Mason and
Doreen Sulkye with 38
points. Cathy was high with
the 20's count 39, Marilyn
had 31, Jo -Ann with 21 and
Sarah shot 17.
Two free dinners were
won by Carol Cook and Edna
Zettler. Door prizes were
claimed by Doreen Sulkye
and Clare Kuepfer.
Our next crokinole in
Teeswater is scheduled for
Saturday, February 21,2015
at 1:30 p.m. and we already
know there will be a new
player coming all the way
from Kitchener to join us for
the first time.
Please call Peter at 392-
8115 if you would like to
join us to ensure we have
enough boards.
In other crokinole news,
Neil, Clare, Sarah, Carol
and Jo -Ann attended the
Golden Horseshoe Tourna-
ment on Sat. Jan. 31st
sponsored by the Hamilton
`Hammers' and Toronto
Crokinole Clubs with 44
players in attendance. Con-
gratulations to Clare Kuep-
fer who placed 4th in Pool
"B" Jo -Ann Carter who
played in the flight "C"
finals and came home with
the 2nd place certificate
and cash after loosing to a
Kitchener player. Peter
stayed behind as he was
committed to walk in the
`Walk for Memories' at F E
Madill School in Wingham
as he was successful in col-
lecting pledges of $7,010.00
for the Huron County Alz-
heimer Society.
