This is the first time that Alton has done this and, although she is happy to have donated, was not sure what she thought of her hair being short when she visited the Sentinel office on Friday, January 30, 2015 soon after the cutting. She entrusted her donation to hairdresser Brittany McClinchey who did the honours. The Pantene Beautiful Lengths campaign was Launched in 2007 by Proctor & Gamble Canada in partner- ship with the Canadian Cancer Society. Since then, more than 70,000 ponytails have been donated and made into real - hair wigs. Pantene Beautiful Lengths accepts the hair dona- tions, makes the wigs then ships them to Canadian Can- cer Society wig banks across Canada. The wigs help women who are living with cancer to regain their confidence and sense of self, a very meaningful way for hair donators to sup- port someone on their cancer journey. There is no cost to the Society or the individual who receives the wig. If you are considering donating your hair, the amount donated must be a minimum of 8 inches long with no maximum length requirement, should not be chemically treated as in no bleach, colour or perm and when collected must be clean and dry and not swept off of the floor.
