Carols for Kisumu' brings out the crowds to HAWK Theatre
There was a good crowd
out to the HAWK Theatre
on Dec. 17 to participate
in the "Carols for Kisumu,
Kenya" evening.
The event was organ-
ized by Erin Gilchrist to
raise awareness about her
upcoming work in Kenya
and to raise funds for her
project at the Rita Rose
Garden and Sustainable
Farm at the Kisumu Chil-
dren's Rescue Centre.
With Dale Gilchrist on
the piano, the audience
joined in singing many
favourite Christmas songs
and carols.
Everyone enjoyed the
special musical entertain-
ment which was provided
by Austin and Natalie
Irwin of Lucknow and
Thomas and Marg Beard
of Wingham. A number of
people did some last min-
ute Christmas shopping at
the silent auction which
had many wonderful
items donated by local
businesses and individu-
als. Erin was delighted
with the support of the
community and she

space in the Town Hall.
After the event was over,
Erin said, "It was so great
to have so many people
come together in such a
cozy setting to celebrate
the season together with
music. It was wonderful to
have so many interested in
supporting a community
in Kenya.The generous
spirit of the people in Luc -
know will make such a dif-
ference for the people in
Kisumu!"
Austin and Natalie Irwin

A large audience participated in the singing during the "Carols for
Kisumu" evening at the HAWK Theatre.
