Obituaries In Memoriam Thanks Births Celebrations More Obituaries Obituaries Obituaries Obituaries BRADLEY, Allene Campbell - June 8, 1919- November 20, 2015. Allene Bradley of Greenwood Court in Stratford, passed away at her nursing home on November 20, 2015 in her 97th year. She leaves to mourn one daughter Phyllis, and her husband David of Stratford, in addition to two granddaughters- Kate Todd of Guelph and Emma Todd of Lakefield. Allene will also be missed by her sister-in-law Evelyn Bradley of Ripley, plus nine nieces and nephews- Norm and Cathy MacLennan of Waterloo; Brenda and Don Whitfield of Sault Ste. Marie; Sandra and Gil Tourigny of Victoria B.C.; Maureen and Dave Thomas of Goderich; Mary and Bruce Scott of Ripley; Maxine and Greg Alton of Wingham; Movita and Clair Gartley of Waterloo; Michele Bradley and Peter Martchenko of Waterloo and Mandonna and Bruce Terpstra of Waterloo. Allene also has many great, plus great -great nephews and nieces to miss her. Allene was predeceased by her husband Eldon Bradley in 2009; her only son Dr. John Bradley of Toronto in 2006; her sister Doris MacLennan -Michie in 1991; plus 3 brothers-in-law James Bradley, Murray MacLennan and George Michie. Her parents Walter and Estelle Brown and step mother Dorthea Brown all of Amberley passed before her. Allene was born in Amberley, Ontario very close to Lake Huron. She attended Kincardine High School and later graduated as a school teacher from Stratford Teacher's College in 1939. She taught in one room school houses with 8 grades of pupils in Huron and Ashfield and Kinloss Townships. She married the love of her life- Eldon Bradley in December 1943 when he was able to receive a three day leave from the Royal Canadian Air Force. When World War Two ended in 1945 Allene and Eldon purchased a farm close to Lake Huron in Ashfield Township. They worked together and raised their children, Phyllis and John, there. Allene was proud of her big gardens, delicious baking, her home, barns, many animals and family. She was an active member of Pine River United Church and later Lucknow United Church plus her Women's Institute Groups. She and Eldon retired from farming in the early 1970's and built and moved into a bungalow in Lucknow, Ontario. They became actively involved in a new community making many lasting new friends. In 2005 they moved to Stratford into Hamlet Estates to be closer to family and in 2009 moved into Greenwood Court Nursing Home when health needs dictated. Allene again made many new friends and participated in many nursing home activities. She enjoyed the music, arts and crafts, church services, tea and coffee parties, bowling, gardening, bingo and other games, the wonderful meals, the annual Spring Prom- but especially the fellow residents and wonderful nurses and PSW caregivers. She recommended Greenwood Court as the "best nursing home in the world to be. `Allene's body was resting at the MACKENZIE & MCCREATH FUNERAL HOME in Lucknow. Her funeral was held there on Wednesday, November 25th at 2 PM with visitation one hour prior. Interment followed the service in Greenhill Cemetery in Lucknow. Memorial donations are being given to "The John Bradley Education Endowment Fund" in the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Toronto, Greenwood Court Chapel Fund or the charity of your own choice. Beloved husband of Mary. Loving father of Laurie & Shawn Dalton and Lisa & Peter Van Dyke, all of Ashfield Twp. Cherished grampa of Angela, Darren, John, Justin, Michael, Tyler, Erinn and great grampa of Jocelyn. Dear brother of Catherine Crocker, Dorothy Hamilton, Gladys Hamilton, Carolyn Brown, George Gibson, Cookie Wardle and Dave Gibson. Predeceased by his son Dean, parents Sam & Essie and brother Roy. Friends were invited to a visitation held at the FALCONER FUNERAL HOMES, Bluewater Chapel, 201 Suncoast Dr. East, Goderich on Sunday, November 22, 2015. Private family funeral service. Interment Greenhill Cemetery, Lucknow. In lieu of flowers, donations to Alexandra Marine & General Hospital Foundation - for patient care equipment in the emergency department - would be appreciated as expressions of sympathy.
