Huron -Kinloss plans to reduce residential area by almost 100 hectare
CONTINUED FROM > PAGE 1
MHBC's recommended land
per ha to be removed from
settlement boundaries is as
follows:
Lucknow, 24.3 ha and 633
units; Ripley 5.8 ha and 145
units; Amberley 0.6 ha and 3
units; Holyrood, 19.1 ha and
96 units; Kinloss, 11.5 ha and
57 units; Kinlough, 13.2 ha
and 66 units; Pine RIver, 2.1
ha and 11 units; White-
church 20.9 ha and 104
units.
Lakeshore is the only
area MHBC made no sug-
gestion to remove land
from as it is projected to fall
short of its 20 -year demand
by four units.
"So yes, a lot of land, a lot
of land is available," he said.
MHBC's rationale for the
majority of its suggests was
either the land is unserviced
on the fringe of the current
settlement boundary or the
land is prime agriculture real
estate.
Following Chauvin's pres-
entation, Council went over
a map of each hamlet dis-
cussing MHBC's suggestions
and making minor altera-
tions to the proposed redel-
egation of land use.
Discussion over the maps
lasted an hour and a half.
"So in some cases this
could definitely affect a per-
son's property, they way they
are using it now or the way
they foresee using it in the
future," Mayor Mitch Twolan
told the Lucknow Sentinel
following council. "So it is
incumbent that people get
involved in this process to
pay attention to what's going
on in their communities and
in particular maybe their
properties."
The redelegation of land
affects how that land can be
used, which may prevent
landowners from building
on the premises or what
financial activities are
permitted.
Those that will be affected
by the changes will recieve a
letter. However, Mayor
Twolan was quick to remind
that mail isn't always
reliable.
"At the end of the day peo-
ple [need to] get engaged in
this process," he said.
Municipality clerk Sonya
Watson will now present a
letter of Council's sugges-
tions and concerns over
MHBC's plan to the director
of planning, who will
respond with Staff's remarks.
"From there, we as a coun-
cil will decide if we're happy
with those discussions that
come back from the director
and then forward those on to
our consultants," Mayor
Twolan said.

Lucknow Carolfest tonight
at Christian Reformed Church
By Ruth Dobrensky
Here we are another
week closer to Christmas,
and everyone's calendar is
full of events and parties
to attend. Tonight is Car-
olfest at Lucknow Chris-
tian Reformed Church at
7:45 p.m. Be there early if
you want a parking space.
Last night the Lucknow
Rumoli Club met for their
monthly meeting. In
December, we have a spe-
cial Christmas meeting
with an exchange of gifts
along with the playing of
Rumoli and the usual
camaraderie.
Our Santa Claus parade,
a big highlight of the year
in town, was held last Fri-
day night. As usual the
floats were all great and
the presence of that spe-
cial guy Santa Claus was of
course the icing on the
cake. Santa and Mrs. Claus
were also giving out treats
at the Sports Complex
after the parade and many
children lined up to have
their pictures taken with
them.
This past Sunday night,
Ripley held their annual
"Parade of Lights" fol-
lowed by a free skate with
Santa at the arena.
I would like to ask every-
one to say a little prayer for
my cousin Bob Dobrensky's
granddaughter Kyra who
is 10 years old and has had
two strokes leaving her in
a paralytic state. Our
entire family is reeling
from the shock that this
bright, happy little girl will
be like this for the rest of
her life, so all prayers will
be gratefully appreciated.
Sympathy of the commu-
nity to the families of
