Wawanosh 4-H Proud Pollinators Meeting four Loretta Higgins Meeting four of the Proud Pollinators took place at 7pm on August 6, 2015 at leader Mary Ellen's house. Vice -President Jaxon opened the meeting with the pledge and roll -call which was, "Have you ever seen a polli- nator at work? What was it pollinating?" Then Kate read the minutes from the last meeting. Afterward, we took up the Before The Next Meeting. For some physical activity, we went outside to play a pollinator game called FLIES': After going inside, the leaders treated us to a skit presentation from Can- ada AM talking about the anatomy of honey bees. We learned many things like the life cycle of the honey bee, how the queen doesn't die when she stings, and that honey bees are feminists. Next was our turn. Members were split into groups to make a presentation from a television show, talking about the anatomy and life cycles of different pollina- tors. Each presentation was fun and unique. Our second last activity involved members being given a flower container with cheezies inside and were told to walk around to other containers and eat some of theirs, demonstrating how pollination works. While members finished their small snack, the leaders used some string and a few peo- ple to demonstrate how long hummingbird, butterfly, and bee tongues are compared to their body length. Jaxon closed the meeting with the 4-H motto and members enjoyed snack. The next meeting is set for September 3 at 6:30p.m. at the Auburn Hall.
