The Lucknow Horticul-
tural Society held their
annual Flower Show and Tea
at the Lucknow United
Church on July 22, 2015.
As usual, the entries in the
show were arranged around
the outer perimeter or the
room while refreshments
were served in the centre of
the room, affording a won-
derful atmosphere for dining
with all of the colourful
entries.
Mary Lou Irwin of Luc -
know attended for her first
time. She was very impressed
with the flowers and added,
"Lunch is good too."
Betty Lou Dalton com-
mented that there is always a
good variety at the show. She
credits this to the members
stating, "There are great gar-
dens in the area"
Assistant District Director
of area Horticultural Socie-
ties Theresa McLaughlin
mused that this year she has
been on three garden tours
and that this is her third
flower show. In describing
the Lucknow show she
remarked, "there are beauti-
ful flowers and the Lucknow
Horticultural Society has
done a wonderful job."
President of the Lucknow
Horticultural Society Wendy
Snow commented on the
differences this year. More
members are on holidays so
the entries and display are
not as packed as usual. Some
of the ones absent are key
showers. Despite this, Snow
is pleased that there is a
strong showing. She reports,
"As always, everyone has
worked hard."
Next year's Flower Show
and Tea will be changed to
June from July. Changing the
timing in the season allows
for different plant selections
to be showcased.
