Lucknow native Dave Far-
rish has been named as an
assistant coach for the Colo-
rado Avalanche.
Farrish joins Tim Almy as
one of the two assistant
coaches under head coach/
vice-president of hockey
operations Patrick Roy.
This year will be Farrish's
25th year in coaching.
He served as an assistant
coach with the Toronto
Maple Leafs from 2011 to
2014, and before that, was
behind the Anaheim Ducks'
bench for seven seasons,
winning a Stanley Cup in
2006-07.
He has head coached in
more than 1,000 professional
hockey games, amassing a
record of 520-402-83-22
combined in the American
Hockey League, Interna-
tional Hockey League and
East Coast Hockey League
levels.
The New York Rangers
selected Farrish as the 24th
overall pick (second
round) in the 1976 NHL
Entry Draft.
He played seven seasons
in the NHL (1976-77 to
1983-84) as a defenseman
with the Rangers, Maple
Leafs and Quebec Nor-
diques (now the Colorado
Avalanche).
In 430 regular season
games, he amassed 17 goals
and 110 assists and 440 pen-
alty minutes.
