Branch 309 welcomes Euchre players to Provincial Tournament Lucknow Legion News Sarah Taylor Public Relations Officer, Branch 309 Branch 309 has the privi- lege of hosting the Legion Provincial Euchre Tourna- ment this Saturday, May 2, with players coming from all across Ontario. These play- ers won their respective zone and district tournaments, and have qualified to advance to the provincial tournament. We would like to take this opportunity to welcome all players to our community and our Branch. We also want to congratulate the winners of last year's provincial euchre tourna- ment, from Branch 309, Susan Van Diepen, Kevin Finnigan, Eric Haldenby and Dave Humphrey. Lee Grant will be perform- ing at the Branch on Friday night, and everyone is invited to attend. On Satur- day, Lee will be back to pro- vide entertainment for the Branch's monthly wing night. Please join us for good food, music and company. The Legion's sports pro- grams encourage members of all ages and backgrounds to get involved, and to meet other people from the com- munity, and across zones, districts, the province and even the country. These events contribute to improving the Legion's membership, in terms of both enhancing the lives of current members and increasing numbers, in addition to supporting local communities and encour- aging comradeship, sports- manship, physical fitness, and more. At the local level, Branch 309 holds monthly shoot and euchre tournaments, usually on the second and fourth Sundays of each month, respectively. The tourna- ments are open to everyone, with registration from 12:30 to 1 pm, and games starting at 1 pm. The next shoot tour- nament is on Sunday, May 17, and euchre is on Sunday, May 31. The Legion works hard to support communities, but we also recognize that, without the support of this community, Branch 309 would not be able to oper- ate. Thank you to all com- munity members and vol- unteers for your ongoing support. letter to the editor Promote Lucknow To the Editor: Dropping into Kincar- dine the other day, I picked up a copy of Kin- cardine and area 2015 tourist guide. Reading through the guide which was very informative, and coming towards the end of the guide there was a half -page promo- tion advertising Ripley saying discover Ripley. Now, my question is this. I thought Ripley and Lucknow were equal part- ners as to be known as Huron -Kinloss. Wouldn't it have been nice if the other half of the page promoted Lucknow, which I believe has equal or more businesses than Ripley? Lucknow does exist and we are more than likely paying a greater portion of the tax revenue which should qualify equal con- sideration when promot- ing Huron -Kinloss. It would appear to me that Lucknow is getting the short end of the stick. I love this town and its people and only wish more consideration would be afforded our existence.
