In the first of the home and home
games for the ohs ...ionship of the
Northern League, whit, • was played in
Wingham on Friday tight last, the
Wingham boys were inners by the
very satisfactory score o 9 goals to 2.
The mild weather lef the ice very
slushy and in•anything at good shape
for playing. From the commencement
of the play it was ev ent that both
teams were oat to wi., The first few
minutes were very fa , both goals being
attacked without s,00ess, until after
twelve minutes Fie log succeeded in
getting
one past the haters' goal-keeper.ever.
Scarcely had the cheering subsided,
when Johnston 1 nded No. 2 for the
home team on a loug lift. Harriston
forwards, who h d been working over-
time, finally pus ed one in, McDowell
scoring from the left wall. The locals
defence had rat •era hard row to hoe,
but were alwaye_nn the spot, and many
excellent shote were stopped. Elliott
and Galloway of right wall got in some
very fine work, u --d a pretty rush, with
some good passes, and a long shot
caught McQueen apping and No. 3 for
Wingham was th result. Three to one
was not to Harriet n's liking, however,
for very soon the ok slid past Moore
on the sloppy ice nd floated in. The
locals from this on were the aggressors,
literally pouring ass shots on Harristoa
goal, and adding '4iree more to their
striug in the first Ietlf, making the score
at balf-time 6 to 2 :n favor of the home
team. Just as the teams were about to
face in the second :calf the lights went -
out, and the dela- gave them a good
rest. The ice had become very soft, and

a safe distance from the net. In the
last half Wingham# boys succeeded in
s coring two more oals, the game end-
ing 9 to 1, with th home team seven in
the lead. The ga a was witnessed by a
large number of s eotators, over 100 hav-
ing accompanied' the Harriston boys
over.
Is there any other game besides
hockey that Harrison can play?
Gate receipts ov $100. The manage-
ment wish to think the public for their
very liberal patro ge daring the sea-
son just closed.
The goals for Wi gham were scored
by Galloway 2, E liott 2, Fleming 2,
Johnston 2, and McLean 1.
What will the Ha •riston Review say
now? Cheer np, Haxy, old boy. Some
time in the dim and listant future you
may be able to drink out of the "cup."
The Harrtston players have protested
this game on the gron ids that the ice wes
covered with water. This siate of af-
fairs was surely as fai for one team as
the other. The whole.matter, however,
was to be divided lace evening before
playing the game at Heirriston.
