the Orange hall, W ingbam, on Tuesday.
—Mr. A. Haslam, whose illness we
reported last week, is improving, and it

home league hockey game in the Wing -
ham rink on Friday evening of this
week.
—Final home league game of hockey,

—Mr. and Mrs. J. F. McCracken of
the Blnevale road entertained the choir
of St. Paul's Church very successtully
last Monday evening.
—Prof. W. Glenn Campbell, has re-
covered from his aixteen weeks' illness
and is again forming his music classes
in Wingham, Clinton and Blyth.
--The old bridge at the mill is being
taken down this week. The town will
keep the timber and use it in making
repairs to the dam and breakwater.
The Carey Dry Goods Co's store is
closed this week for stook -taking and
wapacking new goods. The store will
open on March 1st with a new stock of
dry goods, etc.

ing and played a game with the puck -
chasers of that village, bringing home a
victory by 8 goals to 5.
—Wall Street Methodist Church,

Mr. Butler Sauve, an aged resident of
Staples, Ont., was killed by an express

A fine imposed on a Woodstock color-
ed woman for practising voodism in
London was confirmed.
Mr James Scnithorp fell into a bin of

Mrs Peter O'Connor of Kingston, who

died in the Hotel Dien.

—Two newspapers have changed
hands during the past week. Mr, S. L.
Almer, has sold the Wroxeter Star to
Mr. W. H. Carr, of Toronto, and Mr,
Wm. Elliott, late headmaster of Mit-
chell High School has purchased the
Mitchell Recorder from Mr. Davey.

Mr. H. I3. Elliott is in Toronto this
week attending the mutual meaning at
the Canadian Association of Fairs and
Exhibitions.
Dr. P. Maetlonald, was visiting

day evening.
