CHRISTMAS IN THE
COUNTRY
It was the night before Christmas.
The house was quiet and still all
except that old grandfather clock at
the top of the stairs. Ding -dung,
ding-dong as it struck twelve mid-
night. The children set out cookes
and milk, then went to bed. A little
while later jolly old St. Nick came
bouncing down the chimney! As
quick as a wink he put stuff in he
stocking, than went back up.
Do you believe that myth?
The day before Christmas, all our
family gets together for a big
Christmas supper. On Christmas
morn we would run down the stairs
and open our gifts from mom and
dad.
We would susually have a light
lunch, then go out snowmobiling,
which was of great fun. When we
come in, mom would have a pot of
hot chocolate on for us. Then we
went into the living room and
passed out the gifts that we had for
each other. By that time we were
all hungry! It was a good thing too,
because we had another big meal
and some Christmas cake that mom
made. After supper we were all
tired, filled and thankful for all the
gifts.
Christmas is one of my favorite
time of the year. - By - Mark
Bachert, Grade 8, Seaforth Public
School
THE FIRST CHRISTMAS
The first Christmas was when
Jesus was born. Jesus was born on
Christmas. He was born in a stable.
Mary knew He was very special to
her because God told Mary she was
going to have Jesus. Mary was very
happy to be Jesus mother. As Jesus
got older, Mary taught Jesus to pray
and how to help her and Joseph.
That's how Christmas began. -
Michelle Feeney, Grade 3, St.
Columban
CHRISTMAS LONG AGO
Long long ago a man named
Jesus invented Christmas. Christmas
is Jesus' birthday so be thankful
you have a Christmas. I don't mean
be thankful because you get gifts,
Christmas is a time to think about
Jesus. Jesus gave us life. He is the
best man on earth. Well he used to
be on earth. Christmas is a good
time to be good to your mother and
father because then Jesus will really
love you. Christmas is the best time
of the year. I like Christmas and
you should too. Christmas is my
favourite time because we get to
wake up and play animal—rummy.
Once its time to go downstairs and
open our presents we all go "Hip
hip hurray". - by Steven Poppe,
Grade 3, St. Columban
THE MOUSE THAT RUINED
AND SAVED CHRISTMAS
In a place called Hank everyone
was getting their Christmas letters
back. The Vink Mo family was not
happy. Darrell and his sister Julie
started to cry. Santa's elf had writ-
ten to say they would not be
coming to Honk this year because
Santa had received a nasty letter.
The mice family in the house heard
the children crying. The dad mouse
said, "Scratchy id you write that
mean note to Santa?" Scratchy said
"Yes, but I only did it because last
year Santa never gave me a truck."
The dad mouse said, "You ruined
Christmas." The Dad that lived in
the house was a clock maker. He
made a clock that. at midnight,
would sing to Santa. He brought it
to the Prime Minister and the Prime
Minister said "That is a great idea."
So everyone came and the dad
started the clock, but it went heserk.
Everyone said
"b000000000000000." Then the dad
mouse asked "Did you brake that
clock?" Scratchy said "Yes, I did. It
was fun." The dad mouse was so
mad. He said "get to your room".
Then on Christmas night Scratchy
said to his dad,"1 am going to fix
the clock." His dad said "You don't
know a thing about clocks." Then
Scratchy got a dock book and went
to fix the clock. He got done dust in
time. When Santa went by the clock
wig. Then Santa said "I think I
will give them toys." and he did. -

HERE COMES SANTA CLAUS,
RIGHT DOWN OUR CHIMNEY
It usually all starts the day after
Christmas when all of Santa's hel-
pers (which are known as elves)
they start making those wonderful
toys for our dear Santa to deliver.
You see on Christmas Eve, our
dear Santa goes to all the houses of
the little children to deliver their
gifts. Except everyone always
wonders, HOW Santa gets down
our chimney.
Well this is why I'm writing this
short piece, to tell all the mom's,
dad's, aunt's, uncle's, grandma's,
grandpa's and all you little children.
HOW SANTA CLAUS COMES
DOWN THE CHIMNEY.
You see many people say he flies
on his reindeer to the top of your
house, and slides down the chim-
ney. Others say he gets to the top
of your house and touches his nose.
Then with a twitch of his nose, he
disappears into your house just as
quick as the snap of your fingers.
Well to tell you all the truth, what
really happens is ...On Christmas
Eve, the reindeer eat up some
magical broccoli and makes it so
they can fly. Then Santa eats some
pea soup. What he doesn't know is,
ther is magical dust in his soup.
When Santa arrives at your house,
he lands on your roof and ever so
quietly goes to the chimney. With
the touch of his nose he gets on the
top of your chimney and slides all
the way down to the bottom. You
see he touches his nose so that he
doesn't hurt himself when he lands.
Then he quietly delivers the gifts
and goes to the fire place. With the
touch of his nose he dashes up the
chimney to his wonderful reindeer
and he dashes off to the next house.

JESUS BIRTH
Long long ago there lived a
young woman named Mary who
was engaged to Joseph. Joseph was
a carpenter. One day an angel
appeared before her and said "You
will have a baby boy and he will be
named Jesus Christ, The Son of
God", and Mary said " I am the
Lord's servant, I will do what he
says". Then it was jsut a little later
and they had to go pay their taxes.
Mary got to ride the donkey
because she was pregnant. When
they arrived at the inns, the in-
nkeepers all said that they did not
have room. One man showed them
to a stable. That is where they
stayed for the night. That night
Mary had a baby. Three kings came
to worship Jesus. The kings gave
him frankincense and myhrr. - by
Cassandra Vink, Grade 3, St.
Columban.
CHRISTMAS IN THE
COUNTRY
Christmas in the country is
special to me. My brother Lawrence
and my sister Carrie and I go
sleding down the hill, go skating in
Seaforth, go skiing around our yard.
We go to Christmas parties all over
the place. And sometimes we just
stay in the house and play games.
It's most fun when we go shopping
and up the tree. I like it when we
put on all the ornaments. 1 get all
excited when it's about five or three
days before Christmas Eve. The
best thing I like is when we go to
my Grandma and Grandpa's house
for Christmas. I can't wait till
Christmas Eve.
That's why Christmas is special
me. - Andrea Flanagan, Grade 5, St.
Patrick's School, Dublin.
CHRISTMAS STORY
Long Long ago there were two
people named Mary and Joseph.
One day and angel came to them
and said "You will be having a
baby and he would be named
Jesus". But the next day they had to
go to Bethleham to pay their taxes
so they travelled to Bethlehem.
When they got ther Mary was going
to have her baby. So they went to
the Inn's but everywhere the answer
was no! Finally one said "1 have a
stable over there 0 you can rent
there" When they got there Mary
had baby Jesus. Every year we
celebrate Jesus' birthday an
Christmas. - by Curtis Murray,

CHRISTMAS IN THE
COUNTRY
Ding Dong, the clock strikes
12:00 noon. The dinner smells great
and it's almost time to eat. The
whole family is there, Grandma
Grandpa all my uncles and aunts,
and my little cousins. There are
about 30 people in the old farm
house. It's a big house, last year we
had Christmas at Grandma and
Grandpa's house. It was real
crowded but there is lots of room at
our house. The only problem is that
I'll have to clean up after. It's
almost time to eat dinner and
everyone is sitting down. It takes
about an hour to eat.
After the adults play cards, and
the children go outside into the
snow, everybody sits down at about
3:00 and the children tell everyone
what they got from Santa. One of
the adults tells about his/hers
childhood. Everybody exchanges
gifts.
The kids try out their new toys
and the adult usually try on new
sweaters and stuff.
The kids go out side for a bit
more playing in the snow. The
adults sit around and talk about
everything. Around 7-8 everything
starts to slowdown. We start to
clean up the house and take down
the decorations and next year
Christmas is going to be at
someone else's place. - By Steve

HOW SANTA GOES UP AND
DOWN.THE CHIMNEY
One Christmas, mom decided that
she would hire a Santa Claus to
deliver the presents so Katie's
belief in Santa Claus would be
restored. He was to bang around so
Katie would wake up and see that
there really was a Santa Claus.
Mom and Dad both stayed up to
watch, leading each other to believe
that they were in bed sleeping. By
the time, Mom's Santa arrived,
Dad's Santa was already there.
Both of them were making so much
noise that it woke up Katie. By the
time she woke the Santa's both
realized that there were two of
them, so they hid. Mom and Dad
both jumped in and Katie caught
them removing the gifts. She
thought that both Santa Claus and
Mrs. Claus were there. Mom and
Dad, being so shocked to say
anything, just agreed and sent her
back to bed.
Both Santa's came out of hiding
and helped Mom and Dad put the
rest of the presents under the tree.
I then drew the conclusion that
Santa does up and down the chim-
ney by the front door. - By Sarah
Powell, Grade 8, Seaforth Public
THE FIRST CHRISTMAS THAT

One day close to Chriattinas in

for turn to hook up his reindeer
But when Santa Claus got to the

the gifts were delivered and Santa
went back to his house. And when
morning came all the children were
happy. So was Santa and his wife. -

THE TRUE MEANING OF
CHRISTMAS
What is the true meaning of
Christmas? It may be a time to get
all of those gifts you have wanted
all year or maybe a time to get to
see all of your relatives that you
never get to see.
Christmas is a time to Celebrate
the birth of Christ who was born in
an old stable in Bethlehem on
December 25. The wise men came
and gave presents of gold, frankin-
sence and myrrh. The angels came
and watched over their new king.
Christ was born.
This Christmas, remember the
true meaning of it and Remember
to give is better than to receive. -

THE ELVES GO TO SANTA'S
VILLAGE
Once there were four elves. They
got lost in the snow on their way to
Santa's Village. Their names were
Dozy, Snoozy, Lazy and Larry. One
day Snoozy and the elves saw
Santa. They screamed and yelled
but Santa couldn't hear them. They
tried to follow him but they just got
more lost. "When Santa Comes
back we'll send him a smoke let-
ter," said Larry. When Santa came
back, they tried to start a fire but, it
was too cold. The i re kept on
going out. The next morning there
was two meters of sa iow on the
ground. They were burried under a
meter of snow. In two days there
was four meters of snow. One day
a hunter came and found the elves.
He saved them and took them to
Santa's village. The elves were so
excited. - Greg Kroonen, Grade 3,
