IT WAS A HARD CHRISTMAS
EVE!
it was Christmas Eve and I woke
up and I looked in the living room
and saw that the tree wasn't up yet,
Bio I looked around and found no
sight of the tree. So 1 went outside
and saw a !tole evergreen tree and
so I cut it down and brought it
insidc.(but 1 was only 4) It was
getting din all over and it wouldn't
stand up, 90 I put morn's flower out
of the pot and pat the tree in the
pot and the flower where the tree
was outside. I decorated the tree
from the decorations on the walls.
Then I looked at the time and it
was 12:48. I heard something come
in the door so 1 looked to see who
it was, and it was Santa. So I hid
behind the couch as he came in,
gave out the pressents and went out
again. I decided to go to bed and
stay there until morning because of
that hard night I just had. In the
morning I woke up and opened all
of my pressents. After that mom
said "I wonder how that tree got in
the pot insted of the flower?" Oh I
wonder to mom, really I do. - By

A Very Merry Christmas
with all the trimmings!
WHERE IS SANTA'
Christmas bells were ranging,
children were singing and
everybody was happy. It was
Christmas Eve and everybody had
their Christmas decorations up.
There was only one thing missing,
Santa! He had been missing since
morning. Mrs. Claus had been
looking all over for him. She
desided to go outside. She got
bundled up in her big red coat and
winter boots. She asked the snow-
shoe hare. "Have you seen Santa?"
"Yes" said the snowshoe hare. "He
went into town". "Thank -you" said
Mrs. Claus. Mrs. Claus went to
town. She saw one of Santa's elves.
"Elf, have you seen Santa?" asked
Mrs. Claus. "Yes" said the elf. "He
went down Candy Cane St.".
"Thank -you" said Mrs. Claus. She
went down Candy Cane St. She
asked a snowman, "Have you seen
Santa?" "Yes" said the snowman.
He went in the Tailor's Shop".
"Thank -you" said Mrs. Claus. She
went in the Tailor's Shop. "Tailor"
she asked "Have you seen Santa?"
"Yes" said the tailor. "He's right
here" "He's fallen asleep in the
rocking chair waiting for his coat to
be mended! - By Jessica Burgess,

CHRISTMAS
Christmas started when Mary and
Joseph went to Bethlehem into a
stable, where Mary gave birth to
the Christ Child, Jesus in a manger.
Then three wise men saw a star and
decided to follow it. It just so hap-
pened that baby Jesus was laying
directly below the star. The three
men brought gifts of gold, incense,
and myrrh. That time of year has
come again, when we remember
Jesus' birth. Now is the time when
kids get out of school for holidays,
and go home and have snowball
fights with their family and friends.
It is also the time of giving and
sharing with one another. People
start hanging all of their decorations
for the holiday. They get into the
spirit by hanging their brightly
colored lights outside, putting up
the tree, and getting all of their
Christmas baking done, and by
joining all of the other people in the
rush to get their shopping done.
Families and friends gather together
at Christmas to socialize and to
exchange gifts with one another. On
Christmas Eve at our house my
whole family goes to church with
each other, then after we all go
back to our house and sit around
the tree and talk. I like that because
you get a chance to talk with your
brothers and sisters that you usually
don't see. Out of all the seasons I
like Christmas season best. - By
Dave Middegaal, Grade 8, St.
James School
SANTA'S FALL
One snowy Christmas eve after-
noon at Santa Claus's workshop the
elves were very busy finishing up
the toys for the girls and boys.
They had almost everything ready.
Santa was just finishing making
sure everything was ready. it was
almost night now and Santa had
most of his things in side of his
sleigh.
He hadn't ate much all day so he
could eat the things the boys and
girls left for him.
The sleigh was all packed and
ready to go. Mrs. Claus gave him a
kiss and he went off. After a while
they came into worse weather then
it had been. All of a sudden the
reindeer had to turn quick and
Santa fell off thc sleigh. Luckely
the reindeer swooped down and
saved him. He got back in his
sleigh and headed off to give the
boys and girls their presents. - By

IS SANTA COMING?
Last February Elizabeth Cooper's
parents were in a tragic car ac-
cident, causing both of them to die.
Elizabeth was not in the car but
visitmg her grandmother when the
accident occured.
Elizabeth's only relative was her
grandmother, and she was to old to
look after Elizabeth, and so a few
months later Elizabeth was sent to
Toronto orphanage. It took a few
weeks for her to feel comfortable
with the other orphans she was only
seven.
Christmas was approaching and
Elizabeth was worried that Santa
was not going to come, because the
ophange did not have a chimney for
snata to get in. Then a few days
later the Dinsmor family came,
wanting to adopt a baby girl. The
orphanage did not have any babies
at the time, so the guardian of the
orphange suggested that they should
think about taking home Elizabeth.
The family met Elizabeth and
couldn't leave her wonderful at-
titude towards life, even though she
had already been through enought
pain. The family adopted her the
next day and Elizabeth was so
excited that someone wanted to take
her home.
Within a few weeks Elizabeth had
grown to love her new parents,
Deborah and James. The Dinsmors
treated her kindly and they too
loved her very much.
Christmas Eve came and she had
no more worries about Santa not
coming. The next morning she
woke up and was overwhelmed
about the number of presents that
Santa had brought her. From that
Christmas on all her Christmas's
were full of joy and happiness. And
yes Elizabeth, Santa is really
coming.... - by Kelly Rau, Michelle
Etue, Grade 8, St. James.
RALPH'S CHRISTMAS
One Christmas Eve there was a
mouse sitting in front of his
fireplace. He was excited because
Santa Claus would be coming
tonight. So he went to bed early
and if he went to sleep he wouldn't
open his eyes until Christmas mor-
ning. If Ralph opened his eyes, the
odd time he couldn't get back to
sleep. This was one of these times.
So Ralph just laid ther thinking.
Then he thought and said "I know
what I forgot, I forgot to put my
stocking up." So he ran downstairs
to hang up his stocking but before
you could say angels he heard bells.
So he just got into bed and
pretended that he was sleeping.
Then someone came down the
chimney and put some presents
under his Christmas tree. Santa saw
the stocking and he looked in his
sack to see if there was a thing to
hang up a stocking and there was.
In the morning Ralph woke up and
saw presents everywhere. - by

Santa has nine reindeer. They are
Dancer, Cupid, Prancer, Rudolph,
Dasher, Dander, Bllitzen, Comet and
Vixen. They all fly in the sky so
they don't leave footprints. They
don't want to give Santa's secret
away. Santa doesn't want to be
discovered by kids and grown-ups.

WHAT IS CHRISTMAS?
Well it's that time once again, its
the time when children make snow-
men, and get into snowball fights,
then come inside to warm up with
a nice hot cup of hot chocolate.
But Christmas is more than snow,
and presents. Christmas began
hundreds of years ago when Mary
and Joseph went to Bethlehem
where the baby, Jesus was born
unto them, as he lay in the manger
the three wise men brought him
gifts of gold, incense, and myrrh.
Ever since the birth of Jesus
people have remembered him and
the celebration continues. on.
Through the main reason were
celebrate Christmas is because of
the birth of Christ, there are many
fun and joyous things to do. Every
year millions of people around the
world put up Christmas trees and
decorate them in many beautiful
colors. We buy presents and try to
keep them a secret, Christmas din-
ner is always a big hit with turkey
and all the trimmings. Postal ser-
vices are flooded with Christmas
cards and gifts, and the T.V. plays
Christmas specials continuously.
Families get together to celebrate
the occasion, Mistle toe is hung,
and horse bells jingle as annual
sleigh rides begin. Parades begin
with many beautifully decorated!
floats and people have a great time;
and enjoy themselves. Merry,
Christmas. - by Joe Kenny, Grader
8, St. James. 1
