h was the Chnsutiaw holiday, and
the kids were out ut school.
Catherine watt very mated iteixi about
ChrISIMAIS. She was hoping she
could see Santa this year, lime did
she know what was happening in
the north.
At the north pole Santa was
coughing acid coughing, and
wouldn't stop.
"Santa, 1 hope you can go out for
Christmas," Mrs. Claus exclaimed.
.'Don't weary dear, Christmas is a
weed[ away. AAAA CHHH.
"Good gracious Santa 1 hope
you're right."
"Welcome to CKSL," Catherine
listened ice the radio, while she ate
her breakfast.
.'Santa is sick," the radio announ-
cer sputtered excitedly.
"Oh no! Who's going to deliver
the gifts?" Catherine said in a
frightened voice. 1 hope he comes
so 1 can see him."
Back at the north pole, the elves
were starting to make the gifts.
Since Santa was sick, Mrs. Claus
had to read off the list of what the
little girls and boys wanted. Suzy

"B but."
"No buts Santa, go he down and
I'll get you your medicine."
It was two days before Christmas.
Santa was feeling worse than ever.
Mrs. Claus was more worried also.
"Open your mouth," Mrs. Claus
said as she spooned in the bitter
medicine.
"Yuk...Get me a drink," Santa
demanded.
Even though Santa was sick the
elves were trying w keep things on
schedule.

The next day it was Chnsunas
live and Santa was still silk. The
elves started to pack the sleigh
because if Sauna didn't deliver
gifts the elves would have to
deliver the gifts for him.
It was seven o'clock, and usually
Santa would be almost ready to
leave, but not this year. The elves
were ready to leave. They were
leaving when Santa came out and

Silver Town was gleaming with
pure white snow, that covered the
still solid ground. Shops were
decorated with cheerful Christmas
colours, and their shelves were full
of gifts.
Jason and Sarah Anderson, were
looking forward to Christmas. They
had their letters written to Santa
and sent away.
"Ma ma, how many more days
until Christmas? Sarah asked, while
getting dressed for a clay's shop-
ping.
"Eight more days, dear."
After finishing their last little bit
of Christmas shopping, at the end
of the Janeway they stopped to get
the mail. In the mailbox, there was
a letter addressed to the Anderson
family.
"Ma ma, what is it?"
"I am afraid Sarah that Santa isn't
coming. He has a very bad cold."
"It can't be. It can't be." Sarah
ran into the house and told Jason
the news. He was shocked by the
announcement.
"What will we do Sarah?" said
Jason with a worried face.
"I don't know. I guess we will
just have to pray really hard."
The next day, the town was
taking down all the decorations
because they knew very well Santa
wasn't coming. While that was
going on, children were writing get
well cards.
Up at the cold windy winter pole,
Santa was laying in a bed with
several thick heavy winter quilts on
him, that Mrs. Claus had made.
"How are you feeling Santa?"
Mrs. Claus asked.
"I feel very ill. If it wasn't for
that dirty rotten Jack Frost, I
wouldn't be in this bed at all!"
"Calm down Santa. You must get
your rest. " The elves were still as
busy as bees and the reindeers
hoped, and prayed.
SILVER TOWN'S CHRISTMAS
"Rudolph, do you think Santa
will recover soon?"
"I hope so Dasher. The children
were very, sad.
At Silver Town, parents were
talking about Santa's illness.
Time passed, and it was two days
past Christmas, and no Santa. The
Anderson family was very sad and
disappointed.
That night Jason and Sarah woke
up from such a big noise Like a
loud drum beat. They looked out
the window and saw below them a
red little sleigh and two jolly elves.
"They must be out for a test drive
that didn't work," said Jason with a
little giggle.
Before they knew it, they were on
their way to the North Pole. They
left a note just in case they didn't
get back before morning.
"Wow! This is awesome," Jason
said to Mr. L. Elf.
"I know. But I wish I could drive
this thing. Quick! Get down! We're
headed for the icy cold snow hill
that the reindeer play on." BANG!!!
"It's freezing."
"I know Sarah. Let's get inside
before Jack Frost gets us," Mrs. L.
Elf yelled over the roaring winds.
"Mr. Claus, there's somebody
here to see you."
"Don't bother me Mrs. Claus, I
need my rest."
"It's children dear."
"Come in. What are your names?"
"Sarah, and Jason, Santa. You
have a city for your place," Sarah
said.
"I know. So what brings you
here?"
"Well Santa..." Jason backed off
shyly.
"We wanted to khow when you
were coming?"
"I don't know. I need lots of rest.
Get Mr. and Mrs. M. Elf to show
you around." So they did. They
helped get the toys packed in boxes,
played games, and fed the reindeer.
Santa looked through his magic
mirror and saw the unhappy town.
A liule tear trickled down his rosy
cheek. Time passed and it was time
to leave for Jason and Sarah.
"I sure hope he gets better soon,"
Jason said while they were tucked
into their beds by Mr. and Mrs. C
Elf.
"Good-bye elves," they said as
they waved.
"Sweet dreams," the elves said
back. For the rest of the night they
dreamed of red and white candy
canes, brown teddy bears, sugar
plums, dolls and toy trucks. In the
morning they told their parents
what had happened, but they didn't
believe them.
Two more days passed, so four
days after Christmas, it happened.
A letter came from Santa. He said
he was coming even if it was four
days after Christmas. From that
second everyone was getting ready
for the arrival of Santa. The town
never looked better. All the dif-
ferent colored lights, and figures of
Santa, elves and reindeers hanging
on windows. That night everyone
went to bed early.
Twas the night of Christmas when
all through the house. Not a
creature was stirring, not even a
mouse. The stockings were hung by
the chimney with care, in hope that
St. Nicholas soon would be there.
When St. Nicholas came with a
bound, he was dressed all in fur
from his head to his foot, ad his
clothes were all tarnished with
ashes and soot. A bundle of toys he
flung off his back, and he looked
like a pedlar just opening his pack.
His eyes- how they twinkled, his
dimples how merry. His checks
were like roses his nose like a
cherry. When all things were down,
up the chimney he rose. Good-bye
till next year, Santa Claus. - Melis-
sa Finalyson, Grade 6, St. James
School.
One the cold Christmas Eve of
every year, Santa and his faithful
little elves are geeing prepared for
Santa's long journey.
Mrs. Claus makes a cup of
steaming hot chocolate for Santa
before he leaves. The last few jobs
arc being done. Two small elves are
polishing Santa's bright red sleigh,
and three more are fastening the
reindeer to the sleigh.
At last it is time to leave, so that
Santa can make it around the world
in one night, and not miss any little
children. Santa raises his chubby
arm, waving good-bye to Mrs.
Claus and the elves as he heads
through the starry night. Rudolph is
at the head of the pack, lighting a
path for the other reindeer.
The first stop is China! Ile lands
quickly, but silently upon the roof-
top and grabs a bulging sack. He
squeezes down the chimney and
tiptoes past the bedroom and then
spots a small tree. He lays a few
SANTA'S JOURNEY
presents underneath and scurries to
the chimney. he fills the stockings
to the brim and shoots up through
the chimncy. Now Santa must
travel to millions of other places.
A little while later Santa begins to
travel across the cold Atlantic
Ocean to go to South America, then
to North America.
When Santa finishes at the very
last house, he sends his reindeer
swiftly through the break of dawn.
He made it home just in time!
The little elves run outside and
take the reindeer to the barn while
Santa walks slowly into his house.
Mrs. Claus awaits him with another
cup of hot chocolate. Santa sips it
slowly in his big, gree chair then
falls asleep with a loud snore.

BACK IN TIME
One cold snowy day Jason and 1
were watching, a show about
Jesus's birth and his life. On eht
comercial Jason said "This is
boreing and went to change the
channel, but there was a mal-
function in the T.V. We were sent
back in time to Bethlehem just
before Jesus was born. (But we
didn't know that yet!) The streets
were crowded so we went into a
motel and asked for a room. The
man said, "I don't have any rooms,
but I have a barn you can use, but
there is already some people useing
it. Mary and Joseph I believe"
"That's okay" I said. As we were
going out I said "Did you here that,
he said Mary and Joseph, we've
gone back in time!" "Why?", Jason
asked. "I don't know" I said. When
we got there Jesus had jsut been
born. We stood staring then we
knelt before the king. Just then
someone jumped in with a knife in
his hand. "I've been sent to kill
Christ" he said. "Lucky I keep my
tursty butterfly knife with me" I
said. "Same here" Jason said. "First
you have to get past us" we said
together. He attacked and we
finished him off easily. Then Mary
said "Thank -you". We went outside
to rest. Suddenly, there was a flash
of light and we were standing in
my living room with a medle each
around our neck. The was a note on
the floor. It said "If you want to
come and visit Jesus again just
touch the medles together" From
Mary. (We did visit Jesus again, but
that's in another story). - By Adam

CHRISTMAS MUSIC
It was two and a half weeks until
Christmas. Christmas music filled
the air. Santa was walking down the
street with all the village children
asking him questions. The music
that was playing was a new song
"A Marshmallow World". All of a
sudden, the music stopped. So did
all the villagers. "Oh no!" Santa
moaned "This is just what I need.
No Christmas music." Santa picked
up his feet and made a beeline for
his workshop. "Waldo Elf! Spunk
Elf! Hurry! The Christmas music
has stopped!" Santa yelled. Only
Spunk Elf came out "Waldo said he
wasn't feeling well, so he went to
bed." Spunk replied. "Okay." Santa
answered. "Lets go!" They ran
towards the "Music is Alive"
Station. Spunk beat Santa to the
or. it was locked. "Maybe Waldo
. .r1 help us by telling us what to
do." Santa and Spunk ran back to
the workshop. They tiptoed up the
stairs to Waldo Elf's room. Santa
lightly knocked on Waldo's door
and then opened it slowly. There, in
the middle of the room, was Waldo
surrounded by tapes and records
with the "Music Is Alive" stamp on
them. Waldo looked up and had a
sheepish look on his face, "Waldo",
Santa whispered "I told you to stay
out of mischief in the Christmas
season. Why did you do this?"
Waldo admitted "i hate Christmas
carols so I took the tapes." "I'm
glad you were honest, Waldo, But
I'm afraid I have to give you
r' is!iment. Your punishment
is...you have to manage the music
station." Santa explained. "Okay"
Waldo replied.
