His first stop was at a little girl's named Katie. He got off his sled, walked towards the chimney and looked down. "Oh No!" Santa exclaimed. "there's no way I can fit down there!" Santa faced the elves "I need help!" The elves scurried off the sleigh and looked down "You're right! Look at you, then this. There's no way!" "Well, don't just stand there, start thinking!" They thought and thought and thought but no one could come up with anything. Time was going on and they, were running out of it. Just then, ti came to one of the elves. "Magic! you can use magic!" "Who knows magic, though?" questioned Santa. "I do!" answered the elf. "One of the elves at home taught me this one. All I do is cast a, sortof, spell on you, then you touch the side of your nose and say "Merry Christmas! It's as easy as that!" "Well, do it!" Alfy Elf recited the spell. When he was finished he told Santa Claus to try it. He touched this nose and said Merry Christmas! And wouldn't you know, it worked! Christmas was saved by Magic!!! - By Jamie Somerville, Grade 8, Seaforth Public School ....from the stqff of W.G. Thompson & Sons Ltd.
