Bethel Bible children present concert The December meeting of the Bethel Bible Church Ladies Mis- si ary Society washeld at the ChuChurch on Tuesday. December 11, in the form of a pot -luck supper with husbands and friends as quests. Following supper the President Shirley Staffen, wekomed everyone and wished them a Blessed Holiday Season. Shirley introduced Edith Coleman who explained about the Slut to be presented. Those par- ticipating were Wendy Lucas. Shir- ley Siaffet, Aida Blanchard and Lola McGonigle. The Christmas Story was read by Shirley Steffen and Helen Henderson. Rev. Lucas closed the meeting with prayer. On December 16 the Children of Bethel Bible Church presented their Christmas concert. Later the children were given a bag of Candy and refreshments. Duff's Church holds Sunday School concert Preparing and Celebrating was the theme for the annual Sunday School Christmas concert at Duff's United Church Walton on Sunday after- noon, December 9. The program was well attended by parents, grandparents and friends. Gloria Wilbee welcomed everyone and thanked Marie McGavin for the Christmas Carols played prior to the program. The welcome number was sung by the young students of the Nur- sery Class, Jennifer McClure; Ash- ley Saur, Alesia Townsend, Sarah McDonald, Dana Smith and Mark Wilbee entitled "O'come little Children and Happy Birthday Jesus. Janice McCallum and Kelly McDonald did a step dance number. The beginner class did a play "While Shepards" including Brit- tney Holmes, Jeffery Linton, Darrell McClure, Robbie McClure, Chad Sommerville, Darryl Houston, Kenny McCallum, Patricia Walton BY BETTY MCCALL 8S7-6677 McClure, Scou McDonald and Kevin Wilbee then singing "Away in a Manger". A piano duet was given by Stacy Linton and Lee Ann McDonald. A violin solo was given by Kevin Wilbee. The Primary Class members Melissa Dube, Mark Gillis, Paul Linton, Kelly McDonald, Katie Emmrich, Jillian Houston, Tina McClure and Nicholas Saur all recited what each letter in Christmas meant then sang Rudolph the Red -Nose Reindeer, Santa Claus is coming to town and Silent Night, accompanied by Gloria Wilbee with her guitar. A sing -song of Christmas carols was led by Gloria Wilbee with Marie McGavin as pianist. The Junior class put on a play, " 1-u- zzies" by members, Shannon Davies, Craig Gillis, Charlene Little, Kerrie McClure, Lee Ann McDonald, Ellen Workman, Jamie Emmrich, Randy Linton, Chad McCallum, and Neil Saur. Lee Ann McDonald did a step dance fol- lowed by a piano solo by Sarah Lamble. The Senior class put on a slide and music presentation on Your World. Those taking part were Chris Davis, Sarah Lambie, Chris Saur, Heather Eckel and Stacy Linton. The Junior Choir sang, "I prayed in the Tub". after the singing of Jingle Bells, Santa Claus arrived and distributed bags of candies. Gloria thanked everyone for their participation and the audience showed their appreciation. The 1990-91 teachers of the Sun- day School are: Coordinator - Gloria Wilbee, assistant - Jo -Ann McDonald. Nursery - Nita McClure and Linda Saur. Beginner - Heidi McClure and Connie Townsend. Primary - Donna McClure and Linda McDonald. Junior - Donna McClure and Linda McDonald. Senior - Maxine Houston. Baby sitters - Shannon Craig, Sharon Godkin, Liz Lamble, Cindy McCal- lum and Lori McClure, Junior Choir Leaders: Rev. Bonnie Cole Arnal and pianist Marion Godkin. WALTON AREA SPORTS There was a very poor turn out for the Walton Area Sports club's annual meeting. It is reported new members are needed to carry on for next year. Come out January 9 and help keep this club together so your children can play ball next year and keep the Walton Ball Park going. Plans were discussed about the snowmobile rally the first weekend in February more on that later. W.I. TO MEET The Walton Women's Institute will hold a noon Irish Stew Luncheon on Wednesday with pie for dessert. Members will meet later in the afternoon for their Christmas meeting with a gift exchange. Legion Christmas concert for kids Sunday As this will probably be the last news column before Christmas, the Legion President and his Executive would like to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. Also the President would like to thank every member for his or her contribution in making 1990 such a successful year of the Legion - especially the hard working Auxiliary. The Legion would like to com- mend Comrade Randy Lamon for the excellent entry he and his com- mittee put together for the Santa Claus parade. The float was awarded the plaque for the best illuminated float on parade, once again a very big thank you from the branch. With the holidays coming up for -Legion by Gord Scott the school kids, the Legion is spon- soring free skating on December 27, from 10 a.m. to 12, on Decem- ber 28, from 1 to 3 p.m. and then on January 3, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and January 4 from 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.. We hope as many as possible take advantage of this offer. Please don't forget the regular meeting tomorrow night at 7 p.m. (note the earlier time) due to the vote on the extension and the elevator. There will also be mixed euchre tonight (wednesday) at 8 p.m. The children's Christmas Concert is on Sunday at 2 p.m. Don't forget to phone Barbara at 527-1787 if you have someone who would like to perform, singing, playing, dan- cing or giving a recitation. Santa will appear sometime around 3 p.m. Once again Merry Christmas to all.
