met for their December meeting
with Pat McKinnon and Veale
Mahon leading in the worship
service. Each person present, par-
ticipated in the theme "Symbolism
of Christianity".
In scripture, symbols, and song it
explained the meaning of the
various symbols in ancient times.
As well, members learned how
early settlers here, sought to con-
tinue the practice with less expen-
sive items which are associated
with Christmas today. Replicas of
the symbols were used to decorate
the Chrisunas Tree.
Margaret llaynard conducted the
business. A brief review of UCW
activities brought members up to
date. During November members of
the group assisted with a special
service that featured as quest
speaker, Janet McCarthy, of the
Stratford Food Link.
She explained the workings,
needs, and hopes of the or-
ganization at 6 Hamilton Drive,
Stratford.
In response to a gift, a letter of
sincere appreciation was received
form the Francis Sandy Native
Training Centre, Paris, Ontario
where 14 native students prepare to
minister in the All Nauve Con-
ference of the United Church.
Wilma Butson volunteered to
inacribe the 40 new "Songs For A
Gospel People". A donation was
made to Camp Menestung. Plans
were made for special Christmas
visits to shut-ins.
The final 1990 meeting closed
with the Mizpah Benedicat.ion.
During a social half-hour, Freda
Kerslake and Wilma Butson served
a delicious Christmassy dessert.

To Grandma
Although Christmas will still come
to all of us,
We are deeply saddened today,
As our Mom's found it so hard to
tell us,
That Grandma had passed away.
She lived a full life, so rewarding.
Her memories we'll cherish and
keep,
And if we live a life like she
showed us,
A world full of goodness we'll
seek.

I was not personally involved.
And lastly Mr. Malleus, Dr. Talbot
and all other medical staff.
Thank you all, and the best of
Christmases.

Grandma
As a friend, her all she would give
you.
With a smile and a welcome 'He-
llo'.
And the visit was never completed,
Until the tea before you would go.
Grandma's oatmeal cookies were
scrumptious,
We'd always have just one more.
The empty jar was no secret,
Waving 'bye' at her front door.
She lived every day as a teacher,
Helping people was her main goal,
The Leafs and the Blue Jays will
miss her,
As a fan she gave heart and soul.
Seeing clouds with a silver lining,
We'll remember her eyes so blue,
And we'll try in life a little harder,
To be the best at what we do.
So God we ask but one favour,
As you take Grandma by the hand,
May that unending joy be granted,
The kind she gave to each dear
friend.
From her grandchildren.
