reduce cons during the tial.
"If theta is a decrease sn residents
that awe should be a comparable
decrease in elan. That is what has
always beat dose before," said
Fuller.
"1 don't know how we can
answer to the taxpayers for spen-
ding $600.000 by not waiting one
year."
Huronview adnutustratcx Wayne
Luta was asked what the transition
costs would be for additional
saidraurg dunng this time. Lester
be did not have an estimate for
the cost but be did not think u
would amount to $600,000.
In a direct comparison of the
adopted plan, Plan 1, to Plan 2, the
estimates show: total provincial
funds of $11.1 million 10 $11.6
million; county funds of $9.6 mil-
lion to $9.3 million; with the total
estimated funding at $21.1 million
to $20.9 million.
With many grant programs, the
provincial government usually
releases most or all of the funds at
the outset, said Tomes, a method
which would have solved any
potential problems.
"With this project we have w
spend it before we get it. This is a
different type of ballgame from
what usually happens," said Tomes.
Alcock said Monday that by
deferring construction a year, the
project would be subject to inflation
which would drive up the costs.
"To have some interest earning
instead of interest expense would be
nice but that makes the construction
costs go up because of inflation.
That boosts the construction costs,"
said Alcock.
"If we go over, we're on our
own."

importance of preserving the soil
and not polluting the creeks and
streams, and is now starting to give
financial incentive to farmers
interested in implementing some
conservation farming methods.
Even with the methods used by Mr.
Glanville, he did the same as other
farmers and feels the financial
pinch brought on by low paces for
the good yields.
Neil Dolmage, RR 4 Walton,
reports he had good yields of corn,
white beans, soybeans, oats, barley
and kidney beans. For six years
he's been growing kidney beans
and says this year's crop was
slightly above average for what he's
grown previously. His yield was 33
bushels per acre, which is up over
last year. Mr. Dolmage said the
prices for kidney beans weren't too
bad this year. Since kidney beans
are harvested later in the fall Mr.
Dolmage said the crop can be
"Nerve racking."
Elgin Young Apiaries, RR 1
Seaforth, yielded half a ton of
honey from 18 hives. He says this
was not an exceptional year and not
as good as last year when he had
14 hives yield one whole ton.
"Honey prices are terrible now,"
said Mr. Young. "The prices are
about the same as last year, but
have been down for several years.
Unpasteunzed honey in containers
is selling at a dollar per pound, less
if wholesale. Two or three years
ago I was getting a dollar and a
half per pound. I sell all I can from
here and sometimes ship some to
Milton. Costs are going up for
containers and the bits and pieces in
hives arc more expensive.'
At W.G. Thompson and Sons
mills in Hensall, Rick Ingram,
assistant manager, reported "Yields
were good this year and quality was
good. They (yields) were better
than last year, with the exception of
barley and oats. Lots of wheat
made for poorer wheat prices, but
prices have been lower in the past.
Operating costs are higher this
year."
