Dave and Deanna Brock gave an
excellent slide presentation and talk
on New Zealand at the annual
Ladies Aid and Marian Ritchie joint
Christmas meeting on Thursday
evening.
The Brocks spent nineteen days in
New Zealand, visiting with their
son Tim on the weekends and
touring both islands through the
week. Tim was auending school
there as a Rotary Exchange student.
While on the South Island, Dave
and Deanna and their two younger
sons, Jamie and Mark, stayed on
three Farm Stay Vacation Farms so
were able to discuss some of the
problems their farmers face -
problems such as the low price of
lamb and the high price of lamb
and the high price of wool which
comes from a different breed of
sheep raised in a different part of
-Cromarty—
the island.
Lillian Douglas led in the worship
service with Carol Ann Scott at the
piano for several Christmas carols.
Following the service in the Glad
Tidings, scriptures were read by
Roberta Templeman, Joy Scott, and
Alice Gardiner. Reflections on each
scripture were given by Ruth Laing,
Mary Elliott, and Jean Carey. A
responsive litany was led by Lillian
and Jean.
Following the meeting an ex-
change of gifts was held and a
delicious buffet Christmas lunch
was served.

CHRISTMAS IN MALTA
"At home we don't have snow,
but sometimes in December it's a
bit cold, although not as cold as
what we experience in Canada. 1
remember as a young boy during
the Second World War, man and
dad used to give us (children) their
portion from the Victory Kitchen to
keep us healthy.
"Most Maltese homes have a
Christmas set, or creche, and
around the nativity creche a
traditional plant, made of bird seed,
was placed. We used to plant it on
December 8 (the feast of the Im-
maculate Conception) and keep it in
a dark place. It was watered every
third or fourth day until Christmas
Eve, when it was put around the
nativity set. It stayed white. We
also used poinsettias, but only few
