rich, one of the oldest and best known
residents, died at his residence on Wed-
nesday afternoon, aged 70 years and 10
menthe. The deceased had been seri•
ously ill for over six months, and its
long continuance was borne with ex-
emplary patience, The late Mr. Reid
was born in Goderich town, and when a
young roan left for Hamilton, in which
city he was for many years in the em-
ploy of the late Sir Allan Mebi ale. Taut

An interesting case was ltc�ard in the
Division Court at Woodstock recently,
when "G . L. Francis, wlio formerly
published the Woodstock Times, sued
J. A. Creighton for $10.50, the arrears in
subscriptiou to the peper. The defend-
ant admitted that he bad been a snb-
setitter, but stated that he lead cancelled
the paper after one month's trial. The
plaintiff denied that the snbsoription
had been cancelled but had continued
for three years and a half. Judge
Finkle found in favor of the plaintiff
and ordered the $10 50 to be paid.

person of Mrs 0, Fran Egtuond, died in
Egmondvi1Ie on Sunday, Feby 41b, at
restdeaoe of Mrs 0. Vau Hammed. The
deceased cars in her eighty-third year
and had been ill only a short time. Mrs.

garet Johnston,. She was a native of Devonshire, England, and came to Can-
ada when quite young and resided with
her parents on a farm on the Huron
road until her marriage when she came
to reside in Egmondville, and continued
her residence there until her death,

Another of the wrrtthy'+'pioneers of
Huron has passerl from life, Mr.
Jas Rehoe died at his residence, in Sea -
forth. on Thursday afternoon, Feby 1st.
Mr Ke.hoe was 72 yeare of age. Ile had
not been enjoying robust health for some
years, tut was able to be about until
-within fcur days of his death.
He was born in the town of New
Ross, county Wexford, Ireland, and
came to Canada in 1548, first settling in
Montreal, and afterwards coming west
to Toronto, and for four or five years
was engaged in ferrules; its Tecuniseh
township, Simcoe county. He came to
Huron in the early days of leteettlement
taking up the farm on the Tnokersniith
and Hibbert town line, when it was all
bush, and which, by industry and thrift,
he converted into a comfortable home-
stead, and wlxioh he condoned to own
until about three years ago. About I
fourteen years ago he retired from the
farm and came to reside.in Seaforth.
