An invitation to world or- ganization officials in Germany and England went forward from the local committee following an infor- mation meeting in Seaforth District High School after school Thursday night. Possibility the world group would be interested was advanced by F.A. Lashley, secretary -manager of the Ontario Plowmen's Association who attended the meeting. Mr. Lashley said the world group last was in Canada two years ago. If the invitation was accepted, represen- tatives from countries across Europe would compete at the Seaforth match. Mr. Lashley said it had become custom to erect a cairn in the area where the match is held, in which were embedded stones from each of the participating countries. The information meeting, attended by about 200 people interested in the bog match, was arranged by publicity committee chairman W.D. Stephenson so that the community could learn first hand the extent of the match and the work involved in completing arrangements.
