The Seaforth I team met up with
Woolwich in game one and
trounced thea 15 - 5. Seaforth

(4); Erin Siemon (4); Abby Dietz
(2); Melissa Robcnaon (1); Cathy
Coyne (1); Denise O' Reilly. (1);

Mailloux, (1).
Assists came from: Denise
O'Reilly (1); Melissa Robertson (3);
Amy Sianon (2); Denise De Jong
(4); Anna Mailbox (1); Cathy
Coyne (1); and Kim Deveraluix (1).
Woolwich scored one goal in the
first period and in the last 2 1f2
minutes of play tried to come back
scoring four more.
The Seaforth girls played this
game using short and controlled
passes, always travelling quickly
down the ice, and playing their
positions. Winning this game al-
lowed them to move to the next
step in the championship round.
The second in the Cham-
pionship for the Seaforth I
team was against the Goderich II
team. Word was out that this team
was tough and that the girls would
have to work very hank in this
match - and it proved true.
Despite some very tough of-
ficiating Seaforth came out a 3 - 2
winner, in a game the spectators
considered to be a real "nail biter".
Even "Fancy", Tom Ryan's Special
Skills Dog was supporting the team
with the occasional "good loud
bark" when the fans cheered.
Pain Somers for the Saar* I
ler rwa+e Enn Sicmoo, Denise
Woos and Melissa Robertson.
Assists went to Abby Dietz (2) and
Denise DeJoesg.
This win assured Scaforth of a
anodal in the final ChampIonslup
round. At this point, the
weren't sure who they be
playing but u would be either Dor-
chester or the outer Seaforth 11
team.
It turned out to be the Seaforth
Us..
PETITE Ds
The Petite Us played their
opening game against the
first mooting of these Huron -Perth
nvals this season, and u was a
clone contest. The Seaforth girls
played their most aggressive game
to date and goalie Karen Del Vec-
chio had her busiest game of this
season in net.
Kelly Devereaux scored two
goals, one off a pass from Christine
Holland and the other with help
from Kathy Devereaux. Jane
Crowley also scored two goals, one
unassisted, and tie second with
assistance from Cathy Devereaux.
Exeter was able to get only two
pest the Seaforth defence of Ken-
dall Schenck, Julianne Crowley,
Sandee Ryan and Michele Tyndall
and Seaforth moved on to the
second round of the tournament
with a 4 - 2 victory in the opener.
Between games, the Petite IIs had
the opportunity to chat with their
opponents in game two. Dorchester,
claimed to be on a 15 game un-
beaten streak. and the girls went
into the dressing room before the
game very discouraged. Coaches
Lynn Devereaux and Steve Tyndall
must have done a terrific job with
their pep talk because the Petite IIs
came on to the ice full of con-
fidence and ready to play.
Uua.Lc ten ca De4 V entree played
escxpu,na 1y well in the opening
penud rand kept Dorchester off the
sit cbucrd until Seaforth had a 3 -
o lead.
Kathy Devereaux scored all throe
of theme goats, a natural hat trick.
Kara Murray received an assist on
the first goal and Michele Tyndall
helped with the second. Ktiasy
Hotltund flipped one in, unassisted,
at the end of the first and Seaforth
had a 4 - 1 lead.
Kara Murray, on a pass from
Kathy Devereaux, increased the
score to 5 - 1 and then for almost
ten minutes there was 110 scoring on
either side. Jane Crowley scored
goal number six for Seaforth with
Kathy Devettaux receiving another
assists.
Dorchester however, was not
ready to give up. In the last five
minutes, the Dorchester coaches
shortened up the bench and sent out
the power lines. In three minutes
they scored three goals. Seaforth
fought them off for the last two
minutes and the final score was
Seaforth 6 Dorcester 4. The
Seaford), Petite IIs had advanced
past two excellent teams into the
Championship Game against...the
Seaforth Petite I team, who had
also played two exciting games to
qualify for the final. These was
good - natured kidding between
coaches, players and parents before
this game but when the whistle
blew each squad was looking for a
victory.
THE FINAL
In their regular league game
against each other, the Seaforth I
and IIs played to a 3 - 3 tie and at
the end of the first period in this
game the score was tied at 3. Jane
Crowley and Kathy Devereaux
netted a goal each for the Petite IIs
in the first period. Cathy Coyne,
sienna Robertson and Abby Dietz
,cored for tie Penne 1 loam.
In the early stays of the second
period, the play remained even.
Kathy Devereaux and then Jane
Crowley scored for the Ins, aMisicd
by Kelly Devereaux and Kara Mur-
ray. Both goals ca i Ui the fust
eight minutes helping w keep things
light. Seaford* I goals carne from
Melissa Robertson, assisted by
Anna Medial" and Denise
O' Reilly.
In the second period Petite 1
player Denise De Jong was injured
and unable to return to the game.
Because each of these teams has
only two lines, the injury on meant
the Petite I team had to double shift
playas for the remainder of the
game.
The Seaforth IIs quick skating
and tight defensive play took charge
at this point. Kelly Devereaux
netted throe more goals, assisted
with the first goal by Jane Crowley,
before the game ended with
Seaforth Its winning the 9 - 5
game.
The Seaforth IIs played three
excellent games on Saturday, with
good passing, chocking, scoring and
goaltending. In addition to the glory
of receiving the gold medals two
members of the Seaforth IIs
received individual honors, as well.
Kathy Devereaux received a
trophy as Most Valuable Offensive
Player and Julianne Crowley was
awarded the trophy for Most
Valuable Defensive Player.
Congratulations to the Seaforth
Petite 1 team on their Silver
Medals, to Kathy and Julianne for
their awards, and to the Seaforth
Petite IIs for winning the Gold
Medals.

Novice ringette team edged 7-5 by Forest
The first exhibition game of the
Seaforth Novice Ringette team
played this year was in Forest and
the girls were defeated that day 11 -
2.that was over a month ago.
When Forest and Seaforth met on
Sunday for the first of two league
games the Seaforth girls showed
how much they have learned in five
weeks.
Seaforth took a two goal lead on
the experienced Forest squad. Kim
Janmaat opened the scoring on a
pass from Tricia Jansen and one
minute later Katie Holland passed
one to Nicole Munro who flepped it
in the net. Forest came back with
three unanswered goals and led at
the half 3 - 2.
The Forest goalie played especial-
ly well in the second period and
only allowed Seaforth to get by her
three times. Katie Holland and
Nicole Munro played their now
familiar "switch around" with Katie
assisting on Nicole's goal and
Nicole assisting on Katie's. Jenny
Del Vecchio picked up a pass from
Kim Devereaux and scored
Seaforth's fifth goal.
Although the final score was 7 -
5 in Forest's favor, the girls
displayed much improvement on
offence and defence. Credit goes to
fine coaching from Joanne Holland
and Judy Jansen.
