(Shelley McPhee Haist photo) Mary Lou Stewart of the McKillop 1 4-H chub won the Vincent Farm Equipment Award for her top educational display at the Seaforth Fall Fair. Marten Vincent of Seaforth presented the award at the 4-H achievement night, held in Clinton on Noverrber 23. Boson Memorial Trophy for their champion oom exhibit at the Seaforth Fall Fair. Art Bolton, RR1 Dublin, (right) presented the award on November 23 at a 4-H awards night in Clinton. (Shelley McPhee Haist photo) / Jason and Richard Terpstra of RR3 Brussels were among the award winners at the 4-H Awards Night for Huron County, held on November 23. Jason received the Bank of Commerical Award from the Seaforth branch. Richard received the Bank of Montreal Award, Clinton branch; the Toronto -Dominion Bank Award, Seaforth branch and the National Trust Award. The brothers also shared the Bill Turnbull Awards for their top place showings in the 4 H swine club. (Shelley McPhee Haist photo) Top 4 -Hers earn the highest county awards CLINTON - Theresa Knox of RR1 Londesboro was the top winner at the Huron County 4-H Awards Night held here on November 23. Theresa was the recipient of the Murray Cardiff Citizenship Trophy, given to the 4-H member who best exemplifies the goals and aims of 4-H. Theresa's involvement in 4-H dates back to 1985 and since that time she has completed 24 4-H clubs, covering a variety of topics, including Etiquette for the "80s, Seed to Shelf, Milk Makes It, Conservation, Dairy and Vet, Personal Finance and Let's Landscape. Theresa has served on all executive positions in 4-H, and has been involved in Regional Conference and Provincial Leader- ship Camp. She won the Marion Pardy WI Scholarship in 1990, participated in the Hays Classic at the Royal Winter Fair, earned the County Grand Champion Dairy Showman title in 1987 and was a member of her club's Go For The Gold Team. Theresa's outside activities include three years of student council. school newspaper, school choir and band, and an active role in her church. Involvement in 4-H has allowed Theresa to develop responsibility and self confidence. She said that the chance to attend conference and camps had broadened her horizons and introduced her to a a new group of people. To Theresa, citizenship means, "participating in day to day main- tenance of your community, fixing what's wrong and keeping what's right. Citizenship among other thins, is helping even when I 'dont feel like it. Huron -Bruce MP Murray Car- diff was on hand at the Awards Night to present Theresa's award. Many local young people were acknowledged for their achievements in 4-H at the annual awards night. Brothers Jason and Richard Terpstra of RR3 Brussels earned a number of awards for their work in 4-H swine clubs. Richard earned the Huron County Pork Producers' Award, the Ed Watson Award, the Bank of Montreal Award, the Seaforth Branch Toronto -Dominion Bank Award, the National Trust Award and the Bill Turnbull Award. Jason also received the Bill Turnbull award, as well as the Seaforth Branch Bank of Com- mercial Award. Mau Townsend, RR4 Seaforth won the Neil McGavin Award for achieving they highest number of points in the Huron 4-H Plow- men's Club. Ron Stevenson of Walton earned the Vincent Farm Equipment trophy as the top member in the Huron 4-H Agricultural Machinery class. Janet VandenHoven, RR4 Seaforth had the top score in the county in the dairy club division to win the Goderich Branch Bank of Commerce award. She also received the Huron Holstein Club award for her top score and Cindy Carter, RR4 Clinton took second place. Tim Coultes, RR5 Brussels earned the Stan Jackson Award for having the grand champion steer. Erin McNaughton, RR3 Kipper, of the Kippfield 4-H Calf Club won the Topnotch Feed, Limited Award and the Anstett Jewellers Awards as the Map novice beef showman at the Seaforth Fair. She also obtained the highest standing on the basis of awards in Hurai County and earned the Wardent's Novice A ward The Kippfield Club won the W.G. Thompson and Sons trophy for their champion grain exhibit at the Seaforth Fair.
