"We're ..looking at high-tech
education (in the future)," Van Den
Broeck said. "How can we coni-
pete?" The biggest connection the
board has with local businesses at
present is the co-op program, in
which local businesses and
institutions participate voluntarily.
Students work in two selected areas
for a semester each, to get an idea
of what is required in those fields.
Van Den Broeck said that at
present no ideas have been
presented about what other
programs would be set up between
schools and industry.

informed him the tiles would be
made of butting concrete and ready
fora tie in, and that it would be up
to each owner to use it to the best
of his ability. Mr. Traut said he has
two drains and a creek on Ills
property he can pour into and, for
those reasons, he will not tie into
the new drain.
Burns Ross, a retired engineer
who attended the Court of Revision
on behalf of the affected lan-
downers, said he looked at the lands
in question and found no evidence
of erosion or rutting on some of the
lots. He noted the fields were
worked and planted just fine. The
present drain, he noted, was built in
1970 and he felt the standards then
were still fine for today. Mr. Ross
said he felt the full cost should be
assessed to those who wanted the
work.
Mr. Pridham reminded the court
that the revision deals with the cost
distribution in the watershed and
council must make it balance. He
said the cost was assessed property
to property. Since the work was of
low benefit to Mr. Traut, he was
assessed at a low cosi When asked,
Mr. Pridham answered that the cost
of the tiles to be used would be
about S 14,000.
Mr. Winch told the court nobody
really wanted the work. Ile added
he felt the problem was that it had
been decided already, and he
wondered how the whole thing got
through. Mr. Wisch said, "S30,000
is too much for thin. The old drain
is good for a king time and we
don't need the work "
Councillor Bill Deicing interrupted
the assessed owners by saying he
couldn't "see any conclusion
tonight- It's obvious no one will be
happy. "The gentlemen here are all
opposed to it, even Mr. Alderdice.
He wanted the drain and is now
complaining about the assessment.
i'Il make a motion we scrap this
thing."
A motion was passed to deny
Kolesssnents l'hc assessments will
not change and the assessed owners
will have 10 clays to appeal.
