William Porter Sr. of St.. Marys
died Friday, November 9, 1990 at
blcawrial Hospital. St. Marys. He
eras 81.
Mt. Purtcr is survived by his
wife, the forma Margaret Broad -
foot of St. Malys; daughters, Sandra
and ha husband Gus Bannick of
Tun iu , Gaul and her husb ed John
Page of Si Marys, and Jane Tim-
mins of London. England; and son
William Jr. and his wife Shirley
Poeta, of St Marys.
Also surviving are grandchildren,
lava and Sara -Jane Barwick of
Tunxuu, Bob Harrell Jr. of London,
Jim and Jeffery Harreu of St.
Marys and Lynne and Sean Punter
of Si Marys; five great-
grandchildren; one sista, Leah
Bushfieki of St. Marys; and two
brothers, Edward (Reg) Porter of
Clinton and Rae Puna of Ottawa.
Mr. Porter was predeceilSed by
one sister Alberta Mossip and two
brothers, George and John Porter.
Relatives and fnends were
rcoeived at the Robt. G. Sass
Funeral Home in Si Marys and a
complete funeral service was hell
on Tuesday, November 13. The
Reverend Wilbert Dawson of-
ficiated. Interment St. Marys
Cemetery.
In his memory, donations to the
Heart and Stroke Foundation or the
Canadian Cancer Society would be
appreciated.

manor* service. The Legion
President read the New Testament
scripture and Padre Major Frank
Golding gave a short address and
prayer. The Branch would also like
to thank the Seaforth and District
High school band for leading the
ptuade. It was very much ap-
prec fated.
Other events the Branch par-
ticipated in included a service on
Fnday at the Seafcr h District High
School, and a second at the
Hospital. On an invitation from
Maplewood Manor the Legion also
put on a shoe service for the
residents of the home. They thank
everyone for their kind invitations
to help them remember Canada's
war dead.
Last Saturday night the Annual
Remembrance Dinner and Dance
was enjoyed by approximately 180
members and guests. In attendance
were: guest speaker, Howie Russell,

During the evening President Gor-
don De Jong presented a cheque for
$10,000 to Don Smith, Ad-
ministrator of the Seaforth Com-
munity Hospital.
Mary Doig, 1st Vice President of
the Ladies Auxiliary, presented a
cheque for $5,000 to President
Gordon De Jong on behalf of the
Ladies Auxiliary saying they hoped
it would help with the Elevator.
There is a General meeting this
Thursday evening at 8 p.m.
Remembrance Day observed in Walton

Remembrance Day was observed
Sunday morning at Duff's United
Church, in Walton. Liz and Barb
Lamble participated in the
dedication and lit candle of Peace.
Rev. Bonnie Cole Arnal took as her
sermon, "Take up our Quarrel with
the Foe".
Allan and Alice Searle greeted at
the door and handed out bulletins.
Glenda Carter was organist for the
remembrance hymns. The junior
choir sang an anthem "Sing to the
Mountain" accompanied by Marion
-Walton
Godkin at the piano. The offering
was received by Allan Searle, Jim
McDonald and Neil Mitchell. An-
nouncements were given out for the
following week, The U.C.W.
executive is to meet Monday night
and the unit meetings are both on
Wednesday night. Copper money is
to be brought into the leaders.
ABOUT PEOPLE
Harvey McClure has arrived
home following a visit out west
with his son Rae of Daysland,
Alberta. Harvey also made a trip to
Jasper while there.
Elizabeth Machan, daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. Lester Machan of
Goderich, spent the weekend with
her grandmother, Viola Kirkby
Sandra Sholdice of Stratford, and
Murray Sholdice of London, spent
the' weekend at the home of their
mother, Dorothy Sholdice.
Joan Beuremann of Stratford
visited last week with her mother
Isabelle Shortreed, Mr. and Mrs.
Paul Ponomarenko of Clinton called
on Sunday at the same home.
Cranbrook man honored for work service

Larry Smith was guest of honor at
a dinner at Ranton Place, Pal-
merston on Sunday to celebrate his
30th anniversary with the
Campbell's Soup Company. The
anniversary occurred on November
7. Guests present at the party
included wife Elaine and daughters
Linda and her husband Warren
Knight and their boys of Belgrave;
Wendy and her husband Bill Phil-
lips and son Scott of Brussels, and
-Cranbrook-
Paula at home; and sons David and
his wife Karen of Cranbrook, Mur-
ray of London. Congratulations
Larry!
Stuart and Eleanor Stevenson are
holidaying in Dallas, Texas with
their daughter Anna Lee.
Mrs. Mac Engel has been
transferred to St. Joseph's Hospital
in London for further treatment.
Friends and neighbors of Brenda
Perrie spent an enjoyable evening at
Bluevale hall at a birthday party
arranged by her family.
Cranbrook correspondent Annie
Engels is retiring from the job.

The Expositor, and its readers,
thank Annie for all her years of
diligent service, and wish her a
speedy recovery.
President Gord would like to see a
good turnout of members. There is
slight delay at the moment waiting
for further estimates on the elevator
but the Legion hopes to have a

executive meeting and entertain-
ment plus the sports for the next six
months. A bulletin will then be sent
out to all members.
The Branch was sorry to hear of
the death of Angus MacLean. Com-
rade MacLean had been in ill -health
for sometime. To his wife Marion
and family are offered sympathies
in their loss of a husband and
father.
