Western Junior D League with a
record of throe wins, two ties and
four losses, one in overtime. Going
into tonight's games, five points

Tonight the Centenaires are at
Lucien for an 8:15 game with the
Irish Six, who are also tiled for
second place with nine points but
have three games in hand on
Seaforth. Many tout the Irish as the
team to bent by the time next spring
rolls around.
The Centenaires host Lambeth in
their next home game Friday night
at 8:45 at the Seaforth and District
Community Centres, and are on the
road to Pon Stanley Saturday night
for an 8:30 game.
The Centenaires hung on to win
Sunday afternoon's game by the
skin of their molars, because they
played two men short due to penal-
ties for more then a minute at the
end of the game, which was more
like three men short because the
Pests pulled their goalie in favor of
an extra attacker. But goalie Billy
Tremeer and the defence did what
they had to do and got the win, in a
game that see -sawed all the way
through after Seaforth opened by
accidentally scoring on its own net.
Don Brown popped a pair of goals,
including the winner 22 seconds
after Belmont had equalized with
just under five minutes left in the
game, to lead locals on the

and Blair Beuermann also scored.
Dietz and Watt also added two
assists, as did Karsten Carroll. Dave
Williams, Paul McLlwain and Brad
Shroeder also earned assists, and
Shroeder was solid defensively in
both weekend wins.
It was 1 - 1 after the first period
and 3 - 3 after the second, and
referee Larry Cook tabbed each
team with seven minor penalties,
with four of Seaforth's coming in
the frantic final five minutes.

Leonhardt rolls 346
Thursday Night Bowling saw
many high scores this past week but
Doug Leocfhardt recorded ,the
Leagues' highest single game so far
this year with an outstanding 346
count.
Team Four Plus Two took five
points from the Behinders to more
than double their season's points to
nine. Gerry Armstrong was the
team leaders with 241/609. John
Aubin had 225/581, Tom McKay
225/590 and Ralph Johnston added
a 222 in a strong team effort.
The Behinders were led by Karl
Teichert with 267/725 (highest
triple for the night.) Steve Steep
contributed a 222 game.
The Rocky Rollers rocked the
Ninja Turtles for five points on the
strength of Doug Vocks 256/636
performance. Donna Beuerman
added a 196 game to the Roller
surge.
The Ninja Turtles dropped out of
first place but managed to capture
game two for two points. Gary
Bedard was big shooter with 240,
Bob Wright added a 215 and Don
Deighton a 202.
The highest scoring matchup had
the Simpsons flying to first place
by taking five of seven points from
the Pink Panthers. Doug Procter led
the way with 259/709, Dave Moody
300/696, Mark McKellar 224/635,
and Deb Bedard 209/595. Deserving
special mention was Sherry Tunney
who rolled the Ladies League
highest 265 single and 670 triple
for the year.
The Pink Panthers captured only
two points even though they had
the second hightest team total for
the night. Also seemingly wasted
was Doug Leonhardt's big 346 (701
triple) which did not carry the team
to victory. Erich Matzold was hot
with 252/634. Pat Ryan recorded a
222 and Diana Steep shocked the
competition with a 219, both in the
last game to grab the team's only
victory for the night.
This week Rocky Rollers vs Four
Plus Two, Behinders vs Simpsons
and Pink Panthers vs Ninja Turtles.
Also this week marks the start of
the Hiram Walker High -Low
Doubles elimination rounds. This
tournament is the most popular
event conducted by the Ontario
Five Pin Bowlers Association with
over 30,000 entries last year.

The season opened victoriously
Sunday Night, against Exeter at the
Hensall Arena.
Less than three minutes into the
game Seaforth opened the scoring
with Abby Dietz, getting a goal at
the 12:39 mark. The next 10
minutes of the first period were
action -packed with end-to-end ex-
citement. Then with 3 minutes
r,maining, Melissa Robertson, #4,
scored two quick goals to give
Seaforth a 3 - 0 lead. Exeter
retaliated with one goal before
Abbey Dietz scored again to finish
off the first period.
Going into the second period with
a 4 - 1 lead, for Seaforth. Exeter
pulled its game together and scored
two goals. They were offset,
however, by Seaforth. with Denise
O'Reilly scoring at 13:17 minutes

Peewees beat Wingham
The Seaforth Pee Wees faced off
against Wingham Saturday for the
season's home opener. Seaforth
won the contest 5-3.
Wingham commanded an early
lead in just over three minutes.
With two on the scoreboard for
Wingham, Seaforth's Steve Mclnal-
ly got his team warted with an
unassisted goal to end the action for
the first period.
In the second period Seaforth
commanded the Wingham goal -
tender's attention with Mike Vock,
Jason Gemmell and Chris Marion
each c ha lk i n g one up. Chris
Mahon. Jason Henderson and
1
Shaun Anstett each truly earned an
assist.
Third period action saw Wingham
fighting back with another goal but
Seaforth refused to remain silent as
Mike Hugill popped one in with an
assist from Steve Mclnally.
Other team mates stirring up the
action were Chad Lamont and Scott
Wood sharing the net, Jason Mur-
ray, Colin Devereaux. Mark Mc
Nichol, Murray Workman, Jason
Smith, Brent Hulley, and Pat Grid-
zak. Coaches Doug Anstett and
Doug Vock, along with help from
Derek Cooper, have already brought
the lads through two ties and two
wins in exhibition play
in many a moon by a Seaforth
team, especially in their home rink.
Paul McLlwain's second goal of the
game was icing on the cake late in
the third period, after Mitchell had
pulled to within two. Dana Duskocy
was solid in the Seaforth net, hel-
ping make Seaforth coach Bob
Zimmer's first game ever behind
the visitor's bench at Mitchell,
where he coached for 12 years, a
successful one.
Fans who had watched the Hawks
trounce the Centenaires 5 - 0 at
Seaforth a week earlier, could be
excused for wondering if these were
the same two teams, so pronounced
was the turnaround. Dave Williams
and Jason Schoonderwoerd also
scored for the Centenaires, who led
2 - 1 after the first period and 4 - 1
after the second. Sills, Schoonder-
woerd, Danny Wildfong, Blair
Beuermann, Kory Dietz and
Karsten Carroll were credited with
assists for Seaforth. Erik Haefling
and Trevor Harmer scored for
Mitchell. Seaforth was knicked with
five minor penalties bey referee
Tom Blake, and Mitchell had three,
plus a game misconduct to captain
Mike Carter.
Hot Stove Lea;ue: Duskocy
broke a bone in his little finger
messing around off the ice Saturday
in Stratford, and will be out for a
couple of weeks. Midget goaltender
Jeff Weber, who was with the Cen-
tenaires in the pre -season, will take
his place for the time being.... Cen-
tenaire captain Jeff Gemmell missed
both weekend games with
pneumonia... Shane Cooper, retur-
ning from a shoulder injury, was
dropped back to defence and played
well... former Centenaire Jason
McNichol has been released to the
Goderich Sailors (Junior C)... The
Centenaires are hosting a meet -the -
players and everybody else kind of
post -game barbecue on Sunday,
November 18 after the Port Stanley
game... Seaforth doesn't play at
home for two weeks after this
Friday night's game.... It was
initiation night for the Hawks at
Mitchell Friday, and let's just say
there were strange sights to be seen
skating around the rink after the
game, and a few ladies lingered.
