The failure of the rice and silk crop
are mentioned as mutes of the famine
which now prevails in northern Japan.
It would be interesting to know how far
the famine is connected with the war
which took so many igen from home.
A clue may be obtained Prom one sen-
tence in a recent statement to the effect
that soldiers returning from the War
had found their entire families gone to
other provinces to seek Work. The
famine covers three provinces, and al-
most 758,000 people appear to be etary
ing.

The annual meeting of Dun's church,
Walton, was held recently and was a
most harmonious gathering. Rev. A.
MacNab, M.A., pastor, presided and the
various reports were presented and were
of a very satisfactory character. The
new year is entered upon with pleasing
prospects. The only change in the •
Board of Managers was the appointment
of James Murray as successor to W. A.
McCall. 1905 was a successful year in
the congregation, all iedebteduess being
met and a balance of $25 reported. 29
were added to the membership during
the year and 14 removals, Ieaving a total
of 123. Church and Manse are clear of
debt and the various organizations are
in a prosperous condition. For Missions
$140 was raised. Excellent work was
done by the Ladies' Aid, who are al-
ways deserving of praise, having raised
money for the pnrpose of flooring the
basement of the church and planing a
furauoe in the mouse. This is Rev. Mr.
MaoNab's sixth year and the work ac-
complished durina his pastorate is most
commendable.

Fat is of great account
to a baby ; that is why
babies are fat, If your
baby is scrawny, Scott's
Emulsion is what he
wants. The healthy baby
stores as fat what it does
not need immediately for
bone and muscle. Fat
babies are happy ; they do
not cry ; they are rich ;
their fat is laid up for
time of need. They are
'happy because they are
comfortable. The fat sur-
rounds their little nerves
and cushions them. When
they are scrawny those
nerves are hurt at every
ungentle touch. They
delight in Scott's Emul-
sion. It is as sweet as
wholesome to them.
