The first game saw the Meta from Listowel beau Seaforth at 64 to 35. The high scorers were Lon Pcmc at 13 poinu and Leslie McCourt at 12 points - The Junior game saw LisioweJ win at 53 to 44. The high scorers were Tanya Eckert at 12 points and Julia Morrison at 30 pants. The Senior game saw Seaforth win at a scout of 28 to 26. High scores was Lisa Henderson at 13 points and Stephanie Haines at 12 points. ST. JAMES CROSS-COUNTRY WINNERS - All these runners are winners and here show the medals and ribbons to prove it. St. Tames scoops cross country awards BY SUSAN OXFORD Seaforth's SL James Cross - Country Running team made a good showing at the St. Mike's Cross - Country Invitational meet held at Queen's Park, Stratford, on October 2. Jason Henderson made a record- breaking win, and many other students won medals and ribbons at the meet. In the Girls' 8 -years -old and under, 300 meter run, Nicole Munro came in first place at 3:58. Fol- lowing her were: Crista Vanden - Hoven, fourth at 4:08; Kim Devereaux, seventh at 4:11; Lor- raine Blake, 12th at 4:19; and, Kim Janmaat 15th at 4:20. In the Boys' 8 -years -old and under, 300 meter run, Ryan Van- Dooren came in first at 3:42. Daniel Nash came in 13th at 4:05. Kelly Devereaux came in fourth at 3:44 in the Girls' 9 and 10 -years -old, 900 meter run. In the Boys' 9 and 10 -years -old, 1,800 meter run, (with the course record of 6:28 set in 1988 by Jason Henderson of St. James) Scott VanDooren came in first at 6:50. Melissa Finlayson came in 23rd in the Girls' 11 and 12 -years -old, 1,800 meter run. In Boys' 11 and 12 -years -old, 1,800 meter run, Jason Henderson broke his 1989 record of 6:17 by coming in first at 6:08. Following him were: Boyd Devereaux, second at 6:24; Mark VanDooren, fifth at 6:39; Chris Marion, sixth at 6:43; and Brandon Nash, 16th at 7:09. In the Girls' 13 and 14 -years -old, 1,800 meter run, Michelle Etue came in ninth at 7:52 and was followed by: Janet VandenHoven, 18th at 8:13; and, Tracy Janmaat, 23rd at 8:28. Don Sills came in 23rd in the Boys' 13 -years -old and over, 2,900 meter run. Loons take over lead The Loons have taken over the lead after four nights on the lanes. The Loons manager to take two games from the Peacocks. Top scores for the Loons were Pat Ryan 199-526 and Don Nolan 199-507. Todd Caldwell led the Peacocks with a 241-649. the Orioles and Buzzard played off with the Buzzards gaining five points. Cathy Broome led the Buz- zards with 332-705, followed by Jack Ryan 222-581 and Shelley Kirkwennell 200-494. George Love led the Orioles with a great triple of 849 followed by Karen Hoegy 220-568 and Carol Johnston 206-525. The Vultures managed to take two games from the Eagles with Dave Moody leading with a 274- 722 followed by Pat Nolan 235- 568. Murray Bennewies led the Eagles with 276-738. Ladies High single and triple went to Cathy Broome and George Love took both high single and triple for the men this week. Team standings are: Loons - 14, Orioles - 12, Eagles - 10, Peecocks - 9, Vultures - 8 and Buzzards - 6. Rustlers and Raiders tie at deuce Joan Henderson of Parr Line scored two goals with assistance from Cheryl Kruse. Sandi Fremlin scored off a marvelous pass by Sueanni Van Miltenbt Susan Arts scored a goal, assisted by Sharon Whitfield and Glenda j Chaput for the pass and Bev Shea also scored, assisted by Sandra Wilson. FARMERS 0 Moving up to forward position Queen's Georgina Reynolds scored assisted by Teresa Finlayson. Nice playing too by Barb Caldwell, who scored twice, helped along by Lynn Deveraux and Marg Henderson. Jr. Farmer Ladies played well keep up the pace ladies. In Ladies Exhibition Broomball October 10 at 8 p.m. Winthrop vs Jr. Farmers; 8:50 p.m. Commercial vs Queens; and 9:40 p.m. Perth vs Youngblood. Parr Line sits out. In Junior Broomball October 10 - 6:30 p.m. - Pee Wees or Beginners and 7:00 p.m. - Junior Girls. On October 11 at 6:30 p.m. Junior Boys. " res. 41124212 MENS BROOMBALL RED RUSTLERS 2 - RAIDERS 2 Robert Anderson scored a dynamite (unassisted) goal for the Rustlers and was joined on the scoreboard by rookie Greg Preszcator. Greg dropped to his knees and popped the ball directly into the net off a great pass from Mike Becker and Dennis Vere. The Raiders came back full force with Earl Pennington scoring the first goal, assisted by Dave Dramers. A quick wrist action shot by Jeff Campbell got the Raiders their second goal. Back up came from Dwayne Pryce. GRADS 0 - PARR LINE 3 Len Van Wonderen was only on the ice for a minute when he scored for Parr Line. He was assisted by Paul Middelton. Tim Bylsma also scored with a little help from Ed Salverda. Salverda also scored a goal. Hang in there Grads the season has just begun. RIDERS 1 - WINTHROP 0 Ed Van Miltenburg received a pass from Al and Martin Wynja and scored the lone Rider goal. Winthrop men put up a good front but no goals were scored. ROYALS 0 - KNIGHTS 7 Joe Vink scored two to the Knight's goals, with back up from Jim Nyenhuis. Lawrence Vink popped in another, assisted by Larry Baer. Steve Hulshof, assisted by Paul Nyenhuis scored too. Mark Louwagie, scored. Paul Nyenhues and Larry Baer each got singles. The Royals had plenty of ice time but a little short on goals. In Mens Broomball October 10 at 8 p.m. Grads vs Dumpers; 8:50 p.m. Easy Riders vs Raiders; 9:40 n.m. Royals vs Parr Line; and 10:30 p.m. Knights vs Winthrop. The Red Rustlers sit out. Pot luck held The Seaforth Lawn Bowling Club held its September cot luck supper and social at the Club House Sep- tember 23. President Jack Muir welcomed all present and Mary Finlayson said Grace. Six tables of euchre were in play and several greens of lawn bowling. Euchre winners were: Ladies high - Minnie Walters; Ladies lone hands - Mary Riley; Ladies Con- solation - Jean Keyes; Mens High - Helen Connell (played as a man); Mens lone hands - Gordon Papple and Mens Consolation - Jim Keyes. 1t was decided to have a clean up bee October 15 at 1 p.m. for the ladies. Next social will be October 23 at 8 p.m. at the Orange Hall. Hostess to be Thelma Dale. Isabelle Hunt, Grace Broadfoot and Olive Pappk Happy Birthday was sung to Agnes Eyre and Pete Connolly ally celebrating their birthdays. We are sorry to report Helen Connell is confined to intensive care in Seaforth Hospital and Verde Sinclair and Russell Worden are both in Stratford General. A speedy recovery to all.
