vention to be held October 11, 1990
at the South Huron Recreational
Centre, Exeter. The minutes of the
1989 Rally were read by secretary,
Helen Mac Kenzie.
Tom Knight, newly appointed
Director of the Children' Aid
Society, Goderich, presented a
financial statement of the W.I.
Bursary Fund. Discussion followed.
The Huron County Historical
Society Report was given by Sally
Leitch, Goderich. She announced
the annual dinner meeting to be
held October 11 at the Brucefield
United Church.
President Mary Hunter gave a
reading entitled "Retired Farmer's
Will". Jane Muegge - R.O.S.
brought greetings and reminded
members Agri -Food Week and
reported on 441 activities. 4-H is in
the school system of five schools in
the County.
The Sales Table was convened by
Blyth and Auburn Branches and
netted approximately $65. Everyone
enjoyed a bounteous sou luck noon

Gladys Van Camp introduced the
guest speaker, Edythe Lockridge a
retired teacher at Wingham Secon-
dary School was spent time
Leaching Home Economics at an
Ag iculiural College in Lesotho,
South Africa, Edythe's commentary
and slides on "Life in Africa" were
most interesting. She staged that
Lesotho is a very poor country and
is very difficult to farm because of
a lot of deep erosion and rocks. The
main crop is Maize. Most
everybody grows a garden all year
round. The people wear a blanket
instead of a coat.
Jane Muegge made the presen-
tation of the Huron County 4-H
Scholarship to Margaret Cronin of
the Blyth 4-H Club. She is atten-
ding the Ridgetown College for
Animal Science this fall. Her
Mother was present and received
the certificate and award on her
behalf. Those completing 24, 4-H
Projects were Glenda Carter, Wal-
ton; Shelly Lockie, Fordwich; Ruth
Higgins, Belgrave and Donna
Johnston, Bluevale. Each was
presented with a Trillium Cup and
Saucer, courtesy of Huron County
Womens Institute.

Walton women's institute outing to Seaforth

Ten members of the Walton
Women's Institute enjoyed last
Thursday when they toured the
Seaforth Library. Trudy Broome
welcomed everyone and explained
the way things are run in the
library.
She was thanked for sharing her
knowledge and presented with a
flower arrangement. It was planned
to have dinner at the Blue Fountain
in Clinton, members went on to the
remainder of the County Council
meeting in Goderich. This was the
Citizenship and Legislation meeting.
A short business meeting was
held in the library where the hostess
served coffee and dessert. Margaret
McInroy chaired the meeting,
thanking Marion and Leona for
planning the meeting. From the
minutes several items were attended
to.
A report from the County Rally
held in Belgrave on Monday, was
given. Attending were Berva Wat-
son, Margaret Mclnroy, Marjory
Humphries and Leona McDonald.
Luncheon's are starting again this
month, October 17. The next
Institute meeting will be held
November 21.
THANKSGIVING HAPPENINGS
Isabelle Shortreed was a
Thanksgiving supper guest on
Saturday with Bill and Louise
Smith of Amberly. On Sun
Isabelle had supper with Ken and
Judy Shortreed and family. Dale
Wanless was also a guest at the
same home.
Duff's United Church was
decorated in the Thanksgiving
Theme for the Communion Service
on Sunday. Several family members
were home for the Thanksgiving
weekend.

The Ontario Ministry of Agriculture and Food is
currently sending out applications for the Farm
Tax Rebate Program.
Owners of farm property in agricultural production
may be entitled to a rebate equal to 75 per cent of
taxes levied on eligible farmland and outbuildings.
Farm property must be used as part of a farming
operation with a gross production value of at least
$7,000 in 1990.
