Men - Charlie Periu ns (439); Gordon Murray (369) and Bert Walters (342). The Seaforth Recreauorl and Parks Committee would like to invite everyone w au.atd a Workshop on VOLUNTEER RECRUITMENT. If you belong w a group or community organization, and are having trouble getting volunteers, this workshop is for you. The Workshop will be held on Wednesday, October 17 1990 at the Seaforth and District Community Centres from 7 to 10 p.m. Admis- sion fee will be $5 per person and coffee and muffins will be served. RECREATION PREVIEW by (Recreation Director) Marty Bedard The Scafcxth Agricultural Society will be having a GIANT YARD SALE in the new show barn on Saturday, October 13 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Any interested vendors wishing to reserve spare can do so by calling Lois Hodgen at 527- 0046. A 14 -foot space will cost $8, and each vendor must supply their own tables. TIME OUT for Parents and Kids offers CHILDREACH PROGRAM, organized children's activity presentation / presentation / discussion for parents. Centenaires to play first home game October 5 The Seaforth Centenaires dropped a 10 - 4 decision to the Exeter Hawks in their first exhibition game at Hensall Friday night. The locals, only five days and two practices into training camp, fell behind 6 - 1 after the first period where defen- sive disarray dominated, but rebounded with some spirited skating over the final 40 minutes. Centenaires' goals were scored by Danny Wildfong, Ted Sills, Dave Williams and Brad Shroeder. Mike Watt recorded a pair of assists. Wildfong is from Clinton, Williams from Stratford, and Sills, Schroeder and Watt from Seaforth. Exeter racked up 10 minor penal- ties to Seaforth's three, and both squads were tagged with tree fighting majors and resulting game misconducts. The Centenaires, who open their season on the road at Port Stanley on Saturday, play another exhibition at Ayr tonight. Twenty-eight hopefuls turned up for the first night of training camp, and al- though some faces have since left and others arrived. There was still approximately that same number left in camp going into tonight's exhibition. Three veterans were signed as of Sunday for the up- coming season: Goaltender Bill Tremeer, Defenceman Jeff Gemmell and Forward Jason Schoonder- woerd. The Centenaires play their first home game on Friday October 5 when Lambeth comes to town. Six bowling teams first select names The first night of the regular season saw four of six teams decide on team names. Weather and ally conditions were greatly improved from the "warm up" night a week ago but individual scores and atten- dance were down. PLACE: SEAFORTH HIGH SCHOOL - GYM COST: *20.00 FOR 10 WEEKS MIXED RECREATIONAL BASKETBALL - Marc Robinet will supervise this 10 week fun filled program. This is for the non-competitive player who would like a night out and catch up on some exercise. START DATE: THURSDAY, OCTOBER 4, 1990 TIME: 8:00 TO 10:00 P.M. PLACE: SEAFORTH HIGH SCHOOL - GYM COST: •20.00 FOR 10 WEEKS WOOD CARVING - Ted Schinbein will give the beginner and advanced carver a challenge in the program. Carve a decorative decoy. For information on any of the above programs please call 527-0882. Registration can be done at the Recreation Office on the first evening of class. Limits will be put on all programs and if not enough registra- tion in other programs may result in cancellation season. Karl Teichert led the team with a 221/641 night. Michelle Deighton hit for a big 228 game. Team #2 named Mark McKellar as team captain and call themselves "The Simpsons". Dave Moody was high bowler with 226 / 635. Gloria Rozelle impressed all with consis- tently fine games including a 219 and totalling 595. Mark McKellar rolled games of 219 & 216 and Sherry Tunney also hit big in two of three with 207 and 205. Doug Procter was steady with a 206 high game. The strong team effort cap- tured all three games and seven points from the Behinders. Team #3 couldn't decide on a team name but did manage to hold a share of last place by losing all three games. Leading the team in the cause was Barb Alexander with 214/560. The rest of the team strug- gled and await the return of Big Shooter Doug Leonhardt. Team #4 also remains name - less and, its three top bowlers missing, (one spare arranged) still managed to sweep all three games and seven points from team three. The team was led by the super bowling of Bob Wright who hit for 231/516. Janet Moody scored a 207 game and spare Carol Johnston managed a 206 to help the win. The Rocky Rollers (formerly Team #5) captured two games and five points with Brian Dale 240/648 and Doug Vock 269/644 leading the team. Joanne Knights turned in a super 221/573 performance to get the team off to a flying start. Creativity took hold as Team #6 became "Four Plus Two". With four members bowling and two absent it was a struggle to gain one game and two points and for the night. Leading the team was Ralph Johnston out of hospital and back to the alley, with a 216/625 showing. John Aubin also had a good night with 207/597. This week sees the Rocky Rollers vs Team #4, The Behinders vs Four Plus Two and The Simpsons vs Team #3. Make ,oiif irnm'e.
