POWER
INTERRUPTION
We at Ontario Hydro would like to thank
you, our customers for your patience
and good spirit during the
thunderstorm over the week of August
27th to 31st, 1990.
The storm was one of the most severe
in recent years and resulted in an
estimated 3,500 customers being
without power when it was at its peak.
Assistance was provided by crews from
other areas with 40 to 50 staff members
and 15 - 20 trucks working at one time.
Many people worked long hours to
restore power as quickly as possible.
We know customers experienced dif-
ficulties in contacting us during the
storm. As might be expected with so
many people trying to call us at the
same time our phone system was
overloaded much of the time. We had
continuous phone coverage 24 hours
a day for the duration of the storm.
Some isolated problems still exist and
anyone aware of a service difficulty
should report it to us so that we can
make repairs.
Again thank you for your patience and
understanding.

round one. The Merchants last two
games of a best of three series
against Strathroy last week, and as
a result ground to dust all hopes of
advancing further in OBA
playdowns. 1t was a superb effort
by the Merchants, who very nearly
surpassed their regular season win
record. come post season plays.
SEAFORTH 4 - STRATHROY 1
In game one of the latest series
Rick Boon went the distance on the
mound for the Merchants. We
pitched nine innings , allowed one
run on four hits, and walked one
batter while striking out two. The
Merchants won the opener 4 - 1.
Strathroy scored its only run in
the fourth inning to take a 1 - 0
lead, but that lead was short lived
as Seaforth scored a run in the
bottom of the inning to the game
then added one more in the sixth
and two in the seventh to get the
win. Bill Dale, Bill Matetich,
Gerard Ryan and Boon all got hits
for Seaforth.

STRATHROY 10 -
SEAFORTH4
Strathroy turned things around in
game two of the series and finished
with a 10 - 4 victory. They scored
two runs in the first inning of this
contest, three more in the second,
one in each of the third and fourth
innings, two in the fifth and one in
the sixth for the win. Seaforth was
held to one run in the first inning,
one run in the fifth and two runs in
eighth.
Seaforth Pitchers Marc Robinet
and Dave Akey shared the loss.
They allowed 10 runs on eight hits
and walked eight batters while
striking out six.
Hitters for Seaforth were: Boon
(2), Matetich (2), Joe Aubin (2),
Robinet (1), and Marty Bedard (1).
STRATHROY 9 - SEAFORTH 5
Strathroy was again the victor in
the third game of this best of three
series, handing Seaforth a 9 - 5 loss
and forcing an end to the Mer-
chant's fourth season.
Pitcher Boon was again on the
mound, but this time allowed nine
runs on 16 hits, walked one batter
and struck out 2 for the loss.
Seaforth scored a run in the first
inning to take a 1 - 0 lead before
Strathroy scored two in the second
to take it away. Seaforth tied the
game in the third with a run, before
Strathroy scored one in the fourth,
two in the sixth and one in the
seventh to take the score out of
Merchant reach.
Seaforth could only retaliate with
two runs in the eighth. Strathroy put
it away in the ninth by scoring
three more runs. A single run by
the merchants in the bottom of the
inning made the final score 9 - 5
for Strathroy.
Seaforth hitters were: Dale (2),
Dave Garrick (2), Boon (1), Jerry
Feeney (1), Matetich (1) and Ryan
(1).
It was disappointing not being
able to go to North Bay to the all
Ontario playdowns, but it was also
satisfying knowing we can be quite
competitive at that level and
hopefully it will carry on into next
season commented coach Robinet.
The Seaforth Merchants would like
to thank their sponsors and fans for
supporting them throughout the
1990 season and hope they will
continue to support us in 91. Thank
You!!
