'frill next month, Keep smiling! • • SEAFORTH MANOR THE MANOR NURSING HOME Bylining ow week's activities at The Manor was Fun and Fumes on Monday moruMg, followed by a gam of chair rninton. On Tues- day, volunteer Anne Rowland did manicures for the ladies. Thank you Anne! As well. Tuesday morning marked the first gathering of our "Craft Club" as we began our knit - ung, crocheting and gailtrag projects far the fall. On Timidity afternoon Marion Rose provided an enjoyable afternoon of muss and singing for our residents. Her musical talents arc enjoyed by all. On Wednesday afternoon we divided into teams for a contest of trivia and word *arses. The "Red" team emerged triumphant with 52 correct answers, while the "Blue" team came a close second with 47. Thursday was Euchre day with volunteers Doreen Kelly, Mary Nolan, Hazel McGonigle and Eva McCartney. Thanks to all for your help and to Hazel for providing prizes this week. Winners were: High Mens - Dick Weatherhead from the Retirement Home: Low Men - Elmer Bakscy; High Ladies - Ethel Coleman for the Retirement Home; Low Ladies - Edie Salo and Lone Hands • Frank Smale. We enjoy having the Retirement Home residents join us for cards! Our week finished off with an Ice Cream Parlour held Friday after- noon. Residents were able to order a custom • made sundae from a variety of toppings, and as the weather was beautiful and sunny the sundaes just hit the spot. 'Thank you to volunteers Dorothy Papple and Anne Downey for their assis- tance. Coming Events: Birthday party with Marie Flynn and The Huron Strings, and a Barbecue on August 31. SEAFORTH MANOR RETIREMENT HOME Hello again from Seaforth Manor Retirement Home. August is drawing to a close and summer will soon be ending. This month has been busy with summer activities. Our residents, staff and families and area seniors enjoyed a barbecue and family fun day. Around thirty-five showed up for lunch and enjoyed games and conversation on the lawn following lunch. Residents also toured to the Freeze King one after- noon for ice cream cones. Movie Night this month featured 'Cocoon, the Return'. All our residents enjoyed the humours approach to aging. We also enjoyed sing -a -longs and church services with the nursing bonne. On August 2A, residents juiced on the lawn for a bstecue of steak, baked potalocs, corn on the cob, fresh tomatoes and cherry cheesecake. James Sampa then joined us and toured us around, the grounds explaining the landscaping. At our residents' monthly meeting a name for our group of seniors was voted on. lac winner was YAH? - The Young at Hart. Several suggestions were made and Norman T unall agreed to write a letter to council on behalf of YAH with our tV xxm- uicndatiOn$. We were pleased to bear that our letter has been for- warded to Protection to Persons and Commitee for further discussion. h was wonderful to watch our resident's pull together as a team to make then vow herd on community issues. Phone 262.2012 LANDSCAPING TOUR - Residents of Seaforth Manor Retirement Home had a tour of the grounds by James Sampa August 24. Sampa put in the trees, flowers and ground cover as part of the landscaping. He also did the electrical, concrete and plumbing work for the gardens and grounds. Oxford photo.
