record for at least twenty•five years.
The Jauuary "Thawe' got to work with
a vengeance on Su tday and Monday
and the good sleighing of Saturday last
sooii disappeared unser the heavy rains
of those two days. I The weather was
very mild, being m re like May than
January. The tha and rains gave us
one of our usual sp ing floods and the
water in the rivers as very high. To
the south of the t wn the water was
over the road and t filo was stopped for
a few days. The gh water made a
serious break in the mill flume at the
upper dam, and bef re the water was
shut of a large hol- was dug in the em-
bankment of the da a. As it is, several
hundred dollars wil need to be spent to
repair the damage. The bigh water also
interfered with the evorking of the elec-

week the arc light en! vice was cut off.
The cold wave of ettesclay has allowed
the water to go do' 1 and there will like.
