of action, tying Exeter 1-1 on a
July 10 and defeating Grand Bend
3-1 a week later.
At the Exeter away game, SL
Columban began the game short-
handed and Exeter stormed onto the
field, scoring an early goal at the
five-minute mark. Soon afterwards,
though, the missing St. Columban
players arrived and took the play in

hand, with Wayne Schoonderwoerd
scoring in the dying minutes of the
first half. The St. Columban team
had many scoring opportunities, but
just couldn't convert them into
points. The game ended in a 1-1 tie.
Brad Moore played a strong game
in net, staving off many Exeter
scoring attempts.
Hosting Grand Bend on July 17,
the St Cnluumhan PeeWees took
advantage of the scoring oppor-
tunities that they missed the week
before, defeating their guests 3-1
and controlling the play. Goals were
scored by Justin Rodney, Wayne
Schoonderwoerd and Jamie
Stapleton, with the last goal coming
off of a beautiful passing play
started on the right wing by Justin
Rodney. Again, great play in net by
Brad Moore.

Under -17's snap five game losing streak
The St. Columban Under -17 team
came off of a five -game losing
streak with a 9-4 win over Lucan.
Key shots on net, and just plain
pounding away at the Lucan goal -
tender, gave the St. Coh,mhan team
a comfortable 5-1 lead at the half.
Mike Watt, recently called up to the
team, score his first of two goals to
lead off the St. Columban scoring
followed by Mike Etue, with his
first goal of the season. Watt
replied with his second goal,
making the score 3-1. Steve Ryan
finished off the first half with two
shots for two goals, rounding the
score to 5-1.
The second half started off chippy
and went into dirty play as St.
Columban went up 6-1 on Steve
Ryan's third goal of the night.
Lucan came back fighting, though,
and scored two quick goals to make
it 6-3. Mike Seiler put St. Colum -
ban up one with a free kick attempt
that went into the far corner of the
net, off of the keeper. Steve Ryan
then added his fourth goal of the
game.
St. Columban's last goal of the
evening came in the dying minutes
of the game when Kurt Lindemann,
who played outstanding in defence,
moved up to the forward line and
took a pass from Dan Murray and
Steve Ryan to score a perfect shot
that the goalie had no chance on.
This goal was Kurt's first of the
season, and the team went wild,
winning the game 9-4 for their third
victory of the season.
The team's next game is set for
July 30, at home to Nairn.
Mosquitos take 8-3 win
The St. Columban Mosquito soc-
cer squad met with,the Coldstream
team in St. Columban on July 9,
and sent their guests home on the
low end of an 8-3 score.
Adam Nolan and Pat Coyne
shared goaltending duties for the
game, with strong defence provided
by Mike Janmaat, Jamie Groot,
