Memories of An Earlier Canada..
By: Julia F.ckart-Maclean 1990
(Special to "The Huron Expositor"
on Canada Day- 1990)
1 travelled Back in "Time" today..
Along old "Memory Road":
And Memories came flooding
back
of "A Canada of Old.."
A Canada of a different age
Of a long ago place and time
and memories came marching
Of a once upon a time.
A11 of the Brave who did battle
Democracy to save
And, on this, "Canada's
Birthday".
We Honour the valour they gave.
Yes? My "Album of Memories"
lies open
To the pages of yesteryear
To the stories of "Canada" long
ago,
And the folks we held so dear!
Sol Drink a toast, with me today,
To "Canadians" of yesterday
And, with a glass of frosty beer,
Drink a toast of "yesteryear"
To Canada, who on this day,
Celebrates "Her" own Birthday,
And, with her people, fine and
proud,
Throws a party, Roasting load,
That Canadians can face the
"Tide" of "Life"
With Valour and with pride
Ilappy Birthday Canada.
