The Seafonh Merchants continue
to have hard luck on the baseball
diamond. The senior mens hardball
tarn was shut out 5-0 by Kincar-
dine last Tuesday night.
Kincardine got un the scoreboard
early, getung two runs in the first
inning against the merchants. Their
last three runs, however, did not
come until the eighth.
Seaforth scored no runs, and was
held to only four hits in the game.
The Merchants made seven errors
and left nine men on base. Hitters
for Seaforth were: Darren Crocker
with two and Joe Aubin and Bill
Dale each with one.
'This was a really good ball
game. It was close all the way, but
again we just couldn't finish. We're
not going to win many ball games
with four has and we can't leave
nine runners on base," commented
coach Marc Robiaet.
"It's not as if we didn't have the
chances. We left four runners
stranded at third with some of our
key hitters up. Our pitching was
great! Defensively we made some
errors but they didn't cost us the
same. Our offense was the problem
in this one. Hopefully we'll get
things going in the next game."
The Merchants play their next
game Thursday, July 5 in Kincar-
dine. the team will see tounuunent
action this weekend in London and
League play continues for them
Tuesday in Exeter. Game time is
6:30 p.m.

St. Columban Squirt
I's fend off Exeter
On Thursday, June 28 St Colum -
ban Squirt 1 Soccer Club travelled
to play a strong Exeter 1 team who
have won all but one game this
season.
The St Columban forwards
showed great improvement in
receiving the ball and positional
play. Strong goal tending by Cory
Dekroon and determined fullbacks,
led by Tim McClure and Allison
Devereaux were the key to holding
Exeter scoreless for the entire
game.
With less than five minutes
remaining in the game, a well -
executed throw-in by Barry Ver-
sj5C.
.00
beme and Derek Nesbitt resulted in
St Columban scoring the only goal
of the game. Good effort was
shown continually throughout the
game by all players. Line-up for
game as follows: GOAL TENDER
- Cory Dekroon, FORWARDS -
Claire Murray, Adam Koehler, Brad
Klaver, Kyle Murray and Darcy
Flanagan. HALFBACKS - Curtis
Murray, Barry Verberne, Derek
Nesbitt, and Jessica Finlayson.
FULLBACKS - Tim McClure,
Allison Devereaux, Michelle
Flanagan and Greg Van Loon.
ABS - Kyle Henderson.
