A peculiar thing happened at Wallace -
burg recently. Thirteen years ago a
mau went to the residence of a farmer
near that town, and asking shelter, was
allowed to stay over night. The next
day the farmer in question missed his
watch, but as the suspect was out of
sight, and the loser had no means of
knowing where tho culprit had gone, he
promptly forgot about the affair. At
least he did until one day last week,
when on seeing a man who came to town
as a member of the crew of the boat, he
recollected the details of the man's facial
appearance and accusing him of theft he
gave the farmer his own watch, and pro-
mised him the difference iii cash if he
would say' nothing about it.
