B.A., has been re-engaged as Matheraat-
teal Master a Belleville Collegiate at an
advance in salary for next year. He has
sent 13 siaocessful years there. Mr,
Knight has worked his way in a most
commendable manner, graduattng from
Queen's as B,A., doing his reading while
teaching. Mr. Knight is a former resi-
dent of this township,

last week completed the building of the
new bridge on the 8th concession, known
as Wood's bridge.

Mr. Washburn, a divinity student
troru Huron College, London, officiated
last Sunday in the Eagliah churches in
Blyth, Belgrave and Auburn.
Mr. W. F. Shane of Montreal was
renewing acquaintances among old
friends in Myth. All were glad to aee
him and the old gentleman received
many hearty handshakes.
Mr. Isaac Barr has sold his residence
on Combo street to Mr, John Wey-
mouth. The price paid was $800. Mr.
Barr had since purchased from Mr. W.
J. Elliott his 21 -sore faron the Base
line, near Clinton, and will move there
on October lat. It is his intention to
conduct a poultry farm.
LISTOWEL.
While driving a load of grain to the
barn of John Hamilton of the town line
4 east, on Monday, John Cogger fell off
and the wheels passed over his body.
Five ribs were crushed in and an arm
very badly broken. Medical assistance
was quickly summoned and everything
is being done to relieve the unfortunate
man, but his injuries are so serious that
no hopes are held out for his recovery.
Cogger has been out from the old coun-
try only a short time, and was expecting
his wife and two children in two or
three days to join him.

to adjournment; members all present;
the reeve in the chair. Minutes of last
meeting read and passed.
On motion of Messrs. Taylor and
Shaw a grant of 560 was made to be ex-
pended on gravelling at lots 4 and 5 on
7th con. line, the road at said place be-
ing in an almost impassible state.
The Treasurer presented his half.year-
ly statement and on motion of Messrs.
bleCutcheon and Kelly the same was
accepted as satiefactory.
On motion of Messrs, Taylor and
Shaw. Richard Proctor was re -appointed
collector at a salary of 585, on furnish-
ing satisfactory security for the due
performance 01 his duties.
On motion of Messrs. Shave and Kelly,
the reeve and Treasnrer were instructed
to borrow 5500 to meet current expenses.

spending his holidays with relatives on

rich Township spent Sunday at Mr. S.
McBurney's,
Mr. John Rallahan, who was thrown
from a barn over a month ago is pro-
gressing nicely.
Mrs. Thos. Jamieson spent part of last
week win, her daughter, Mrs. R. Stone-
house, of Belgrave,
Misses Edna and May MoBurney tgok
a trip to Brumfield last week and visited
at Mr. McKenzie's.
While engaged working on a house
near Blyth, Mr. D. Cowan, carpenter,
fell from a scaffolding and received in-
juries which may prove fatal.
A very sad accident happened at the
home of Mr. Route last Friday, when
his eldest son was thrown from the
binder and killed. The boy, who was
only fourteen years of age, was reaching
for the whip when he lost his balance
and fell in front of the knife from whioh
he received the injuries which proved
fatal,
