Holism —'Horses are down just
said Burns of the Repository, "but we
look for an improvement before long."
At the recent sales, the middle class
horses have sold about the best, heavy
drafts are as present quite off. color,
General purpose delivery or express
horses sell about the best at preseut,
and some well broken city horses are
also wanted. Today at the Repository
about 19 horses, inostly of the middle
or heavy Class, were sold. ler. Burns
sass a. good, sound, five year old Clycle
weighing 1,500 pounds, will bring $200..
Horses weighing trona 1.300 to k1,150
will bring 3175 and lighter ones from
1,200 to 1,350, are worth about $160, if
young and sound. Roadsters are sell-
ntg at fair props, and second class ser-
viceably sound, work horses or drivers
bring from $40 to $75,
APPLES -Toronto is always a dump-
ing place for a lot of inferior fruit,
teamed in from near by orchards.
Fruit of this class. and second quality
stuff arriving by rail, is selling just
now, the Dawsons say at $1,25 to $1.75.
but good snows will .bring $3 and good.
Spies, $3 to $3 50; it must be good stuff
however, to fetch the top price, as

sons report that export apples are sell-
ing on board cars including barrels, of
colrrse, at $2 75 to $3.10.. -
CATTLE
At the Junction market yesterday
I,217 cattle and 7 calves were received.
As usual, the supply of choice cattle
was not equalto the demand. Ex-
porters advanced again, oneload sell-,
ing at 34.75, but the bulk went at
prices between $1.255 and $4.60. Good
butchers' were in strong demand and
sold from 34 to $4.40. Fair to medium
butchers sold from $3.60. to. $3,85,
common $3 to $3 40, rough and in-
ferior $2 to $3.25. Feeders weighing
from 1,051) to $1,250 sold frorm $3.20 to
HOG MARKET
During the past week the price of
hogs has made a substantial. advance.
Park Blackwell, and: Co. quote selects
off the cars from $5.85 to 35.90, with
the usual 25c Gf for second rates.
Harris is paying t5.75 for No. 1 hogs,.)
