from $3.75.to $t in. Toronto; bucks
from $3 to $3.25, onllEffrom $3 to $3.50,
and lambs from $3.50 to $5.2.5 each.
The trade with ewes, bucks and laints,
is steady, but with culls it is dull.' Mc-
Donald & Maybes sold 36 lambs weigh-
ing
73 pounds at $7.25 per 'cert., and. 7
sheep, weighing 145- pounds, at 04;15

Boos -To-day hoge are quoted by'
Park Blackwell Sc.. Co in Toronto at
$6.25 with the usual 25 cents off for
lights and fats. There ivas a fair run
of hogs outhe markets to -day, but
large proportion were lights. This is
no doubt duo to the fall in prices.
Farmers. are afraid prices will fall till
lower, and so are sending intrianY hogs
that are--too-
good policy at present,. but producers
should remember that their market is
dependent on the quality of the ottput
and if light hogs are put on it must
tend to destroy the reputation of Can-
adian boom and decrease the demand
in the OldCountry. To obtain bestprice
dnally, and establish a "good market,
the Ontario farmer should ship his hog
When they are at the - proper weight
and not before or after, whatever the
market conditions may be.
CArriX J. --The offerings of exporters
have been light in Toronto arid the
junction this week.' At the city mar-
ket this morning they were especially
scorce. Butchers' cattle Were plenti-
ful, such as they were, but in general
the quality has been poor. A. few
good butchers' are offered, ' but the
trade is dull, because of thelarge num-
ber of inferior cattle, .Good butcherS'
Were -selling at about 25c less than last
week. In the country the are be-
ginning to bother the cattle, and eon.
sequently littlo gains are -being made.
This, together with the.fact that the'
tendency of the prices is downward
rather than upward, has caused a
great many .rough, unfinished cows
and:steers to be shipped in. The de-
mand of this class .of stuff is, of course
poor, and trade is necessarily dull.
Much the same Conditions are found
in •the trade in stockers. For good
stockers there is a fair demand, and
priees remain steady, but the poor and
cominOri .stock is lower, and the de -
mend light.
