Children's thoughts about Christmas and Santa
W 1 W'OC'LON' 1' W'ANT T) BE SANTA
I would not want to be Santa because it
would be a hard job to go all over the world in
one night. 1 would tall asleep. 1 would fall out
of the sled and get hurt. 11 would be hard to be
in a jolly mood all the time, The cookies and
milk would almost kill me because I would get
sick. There was loo much stuff to do. To be
Santa you have to love the children and be
nice which would be hard to do all the time.

W IW'(IC'1.1) NOT LIKE TO BE
SANTA CLAUS
I would not like to be Santa Claus because I
would get very tired delivering presents all
over the world. it is nice to get presents but to
he Santa (Taus that is a different story. 1 like
to be my self. You would have to get up early
in the morning and start to work as soon as
you get up. And 00 Christmas you would have
to pack the sled and take off. And 1 would not
get any ('hrist mas dinner, W ho would want to
he Santa (Taus any way?

'1'IIE(HUNCH W 11O STOLE CH RISTM AS
Once there was a mean man sort of gie.
And he heated Christmas. Every year he tried
to find a way to keep Christmas from coming
but every year he had no luck. Every year he
got very very mad. Because every year they
sang and the grinch heated singing. So this
year he stole Christmas rethes, Christmas
trees, all the food, and decoracions, but that
diden't stop Christmas from coming and lam
glad.

A YEAR BOUND HOLIDAY
Being Santa would be like being on a year
round holiday, The only time I would have to
work would be on December 24. And 1 could
be in all of those Christmas parades. The rest
of the year would be easy sailing. The best
thing abput my being Santa would be I'd get
to ride the sled that the reindeer pull. I'd also
make all the kids happy, like a hero. Just
thinking about being Santa is so much fun, I
think I'll start in training right now , in case a
replacement is ever needed.

MY FAMILY'S CHRISTMAS
At our house, like most others, Christmas
is a time to celebrate with many traditions.
First, about a week before Christmas, we
go to a small bush owned by a friend of ours to
cut down a tree. W e decorate it about three
days before Christmas.
We usually have our grandparents and a
few other relatives over. W hen we wake up on
Christmas morning we empty our stockings.
We aren't allowed to open our presents until
after breakfast.
After breakfast my brother and I hand out
one present to each person. W hen everyone
has opened one present we hand out another
one.
After that we talk a lot. We have a
Christmas dinner at about one o'clock,
Eventually our relatives leave and we start
cleaning up all the paper. We wait for a few
days before we take down the tree, W e never
get tired of these traditions on that special
day.

MYSELF AS SANTA
Being Santa can be a very hard and
exhausting job. But there are some things
about it that i would really like.
For instance, I could bring lots of
happiness to children's faces all over the
world.
Then there is that other great reason.
That's right, i would have all those stories
written about me or at least have my name in
them. As a matter of fact 1 would be one of the
most famous people in the world.
lean just see myself now flying through the
air with my nine reindeer, It would be great.
i really would enjoy being Santa, even
though I would have to watch my weight. All
those goodies the children leave Santa are so
tempting. Susan Rowcliffe

WHY !WOULD NOT LIKETOBE
SANTA CLAUS
!would not like to be Santa Claus because I
would be afraid i would get stuck in the
chimney, or be late on Christmas Eve, i would
be sad if f disapoint a little boy or girl or not
have enough presents by Christmas Eve. My
suit might rip in ahouse orsomthing like that.
That's why I would not want to be Santa.

Christmas of 1999
It was the Christmas Eve of 1988. Our
family was just falling asleep with excited
thoughts about Christmas. I couldn't sleep
because 1 was thinking too much about
Christmas and how exciting it would be.
Finally 1 feel asleep.
Before i knew it, it was Christmas morning.
i looked at my watch and it was 5:55, I figured
i couldn't get back to sleep so i got up, woke
my brother and we both went down stairs to
examine the presents. It was 6:30 and our
parents still weren't up so Stephen and 1
started to think of ideas to. wake them up.
Stephen thought that if we give them
breakfast in ted they would wake up faster. Michael Pearce
So I made the coffee and Stephen engineered Grade e
the toast. That did wake them up and finally Seaforth Public School

at 7:1111 they were up. it didn't take long to
open the presents. It was only 9:00 and all the
presents were opened. Stephen and I both
agreed that Christmas always goes quickly.
But it wasn't over yet because we always go to
our grandma's place. Dad went outside to see
how deep the snow was and to his amazement
there was a metre of snow out there. Mom
knew right away that we couldn't go because
we had enough trouble with our four wheel
drive when there was half that much snow. So
mom phoned Grandma partly 'to wish her a
Merry Christmas and partly to say that we
wouldn't be coming down.
And this ended the Christmas of 1988 for
our family.
Christmas- One very special day
One special day when people pray
When all their blues are thrown away,
When we celebrate a special birth,
And when there is peace on Earth
A day when special love is there,
W hen joyful songs fill the air.
W hen a smile is nn every face.
And happiness is every place.
A day when friends come and stay.
All in one very special day.
