EXPRESSO KNIGHTS 1
W hat had promised to be a dandy match
Iumed into somewhat of a dud last Thursday
eve.
Just when you think C.H. Express can be
had, they end up having you..,, for lunch,
Kinkora had used plenty of hustle and
youthful vigor to dispose of other clubs this
season but all that energy was mysteriously
missing during this non contest. The Express
made like squirrels in the attic, you know,
they -come into your home and never want to
leave and you ,just can't get rid of the suckers.
They invaded Kinkoras end zone early and
never really left and went on to easily
dispatch the Knights in a 6-1 thumping.
(',11. led 1-0 after the first period, but in
reality, could and should have been up by
much more.
While Kinkora continued their vacation
and state of inertia into the final half the
winners accelerated their own pace and
pounded home five goals to finally scuttle the
grey shirts.
Kinkora, in a failed effort to match their
opposition step for step, resorted to running
at C.H. and this ploy only resulted
trouble i 'getting
themselves' into penalty
nd the
result was three power play scores for the
victorious Express side.
Bobby Nash was the main man for the
winners this night out as he shone with three
tallies and also added an assist.
Nash scored what has to be the prettiest
goal ed
oose ball
nearof the his own blue line, ouear. He tup raced his a lfoes, and
easily outmanoeuvered the Kinkora goal -
tender for the score. It was a shorthanded
tally and he duplicated the effort just a couple
of minutes later with a virtual carbon copy
marker.
Marc Itobinet, Brett Finlayson and John
Cairns had solo efforts for the Express
Kinkora's Richard Templeman spoiled Ed
Van /Wessel's shutout bid Tate in the game.
Knights out.
GRADS 5 ROYAIS I
'Palk about cold water being poured all over
your hot body.
It T, Royals who pulled off the season's
biggest upset two weeks ago in a dandy 2-1
handling of Chiselhurst, came reeling back to
earth with a resounding thump last week.
They were whipped, you see, by the Grads
who were suffering a tiny mini slump of sorts.
H.T. didn't complete some early scoring
chances and ended up losing 5-1.
Five different shooters shared the Grads
scoring duties with Jim Mclagan, Robert
Wydeven, Craig Kerslake, Tony Vandenheu-
vel and Adrian W ydeven all chipping in to
make life miserable for the Royals.
Jack Van M iltenburg rapped home the lone
H.T. goal with under a minute remaining to
completely destroy the Grads lusty shutout
bid.

showed up at the arena with just half their

one extra body on the bench. They have
performed admirably in recent weeks but
didn't have a hope against the OId Timers
with so few runners.
Jim Henderson, who made like a pesky

times for the OId Boys.
Dennis Murray chipped in a pair with

('hiselhurst's Dan Maloney netted two
markers to lead his mates to a 2-0 shutout win
over the Raiders.
(:hiselhursl, a team that never appears to
he moving all that fast, seems to bring out all
the dullness the opposition has to offer. Heck,
the usually robust Raiders had just two minor
penalties during the meeting. Now, if you can
put the Raiders to sleep, you have to be
winning ugly.
Now don't get me wrong here, Chiselhurst
is a squad populated by fine fellows and they
have the uncanny knack of winning more in
this league than they lose. 1 just can't figure
out how.
WINTHROP 2 PAIUUJNE I
Parrline ran into penalty problems and the
net result was a pair of power play goals by
Neil Mitchell and Paul Storey that carried
W inthrop to a 2-1 conquest last week.
Steve Rowat propelled Parrline into an
early lead with a goal at 7:51 of the first. But
that's all she wrote for the Orangeshirts as
Winthrop, the Jeckyt and Hyde of the mens
broomball league, look control and strolled to
the victory. •

W hat had the makings of another rugged
affair turned out to be a tame encounter last
Wednesday
The Rats played themselves a darn good
game against an organization many felt
would win. However. it was the Mustangs
who had to score a late goal to salvage the tie.
Joe Dorssers had both Egmondville tallies
while, Robert Anderson performed the same
feat for Mitchell.
LADIES BROOM BALL

Hey, what's going on here? This wasn't
supposed to happen. W inthrop 0 Parrline 0?
The meanest, toughest hombres this side of
Dublin looked somewhat ordinary against
stuhhorn W inthrop last Wednesday evening.
Now. the Parrline ladies are certainly not
mean but they sure have been tough on the
local opposition this term.
However it was the ladies from up yonder
who played Scrooge this night and refused to
give a thing to mightly Parrline.
The league's finest club couldn't penetrate
a solid defensive wall erected by Winthrop
and, as a result, the underdogs swiped a
remarkable point.
Christmas came a touch early for W inthrop
this year and they earned the nice present.

The Seaforth Centenaires waited until the
final period before putting the squeeze on a
tough Clinton squad Sunday afternoon.
Behind 5.4 after the second period the
Centenaires scored two goals in the third
stanza to capture the win and edge Clinton
6-5.
Bill Dale got the tying goal just a minute
and a half into the third period, on a pass from
Mike Betties. It was Dale's second goal of the
game. He had connected nn p power play in
the ldte minutes of the second period. That
'goal was assisted by Mike S'o'.hoonderwoerd
and Jerry Wright.
Jerry Wright got the winning goal for
Seaforth al 4:59 of the third period, scoring
off a pass from Kevin W illiamson and Brad
Beuttenmiller. It was also his second goal of
the game. W right scored Seaforth's third
goal. unassisted, in the second period.
Kevin Williamson initially put the Cente-
naims on the scoresheet scoring with the help
of W right and Darren Muir at 7:25 of the first
period. Kevin Melady, assisted by Gerard
Ryan accounted for the other Seaforth goal.
On Friday the Centenaires fell victim to a
third period offensive surge by Mitchell and
despite leading 7.6 going into the final stanza
Inst the game 9-7.
The teams were even at five at the finish of
the first period with Seaforth goals coming
fmm W right. with two. and Dale. Betties and
Williamson. each with one. Assists went to
Moir with two, and Dale. Tim Campbell,
Betties with two, Spencer Rowland. Schoon-
derw'oerd and Beuttenmiller.
Beuttenmiller scored again in the second
stanza on a power play assisted by Betties
and W right. Wright finished the Centenaires
scoring late in the second period. He was
assisted by Betties and Spencer Rowland.
An effort late in the game was not enough
for the Centenaires to catch up to a strong
Bru5selsteam last Tuesday night.
Four goals in the first period. sparked the
Brussels win. and the Iwo goals scored by
Seaforth in the second and third stanzas did
not even make the score close. Brussels
themselves tallied three more goals over the
last two periods
Seaforth goals were scored by Williamson
• nd Melady Assists went to Rowland.
W right and Tim Campbell
Brussels goals were scored by Mike
Chapman with two, with Kevin Lee, Brian
Campbell. Dave Harding, Tim Fritz and
Marty Rutledge each counting singles.
Assists went to Chapman with three. Paul
Robinson with two. and Blake Flett. Rob
Cardiff. Kevin McArter, Mike Vincent. Fritz
and Lee each with one.
The Centenaires play their next home
game Friday at 0:30 p.m against Thedford.
