Grey Cup lottery a success
According to 1st Vico President Mel
Melanson, the Grey Cup lottery sponsored
by tilt' Legion, turned out to be a success with
all the tickets being sold. '11x• winners of the

East. To all those who bought tickets the
legion would like to say thank you and also
thank you is due to Mel and his committee for
the hours spent looking after the tickets. 11 is
a big chore.

year. The Branch would like to thank all the

At the me eting last month it was decided to
grant the Gills High School Band the sum of
$500 towards 'heir trip to Florida at the
March Break.
The Wednesday night euchres are proving
quite popular again this year as are the
Monday night Cribbage games. The next
Euchre is Wednesday, December 10, There
are two 'Turkey Bingos to be held on
December 9 and 16 and a Mixed Euchre on
December 17 with turkeys as prizes.

Board as it continues its ra4k of helping
farmers." Mr Wise said
The board was established in August by
the federal gnvemrrient to assist farmers in
serious financial difficulty it has the power to
examine farmers' financial situations and to
provide for a stay of proceedings by creditors
for up to 120 days
"L am confident the board will continue to
hang its expertise and sensitivity to bear on
the examination of fanners' financial pmt'
terns and on seeking alternate arrangetnents
with creditors." the Minister said.

When Perth County last hosted the
intereatmnal Plowing Match and Farrn
Machinery Show. Augustin and Hanna
W etch were busy 0n their 100 -acre farm near
Munich. Germany
When Perth again stages the IPM the
W alchs will act as host farmers. Leaving
behind Europe's uneasy and potentially
dangerous political climate. they came to
Canada six years ago. and established W
Charlotte Farms I1d. on lots 4, 5.6 and part of
3 in Downie Township. just southwest of
Stratford About 250 acres of their large farm
operation will be used for the Perth
extravaganza September 20.24. 1988.

German lineage raised for show jumping and

include soyabeans, corn, barley and wheat
The Walchs have five children. ranging in
age from nine to 24 years. Their daughter
works in Kitchener and cne son is employed
nn the farm. The other three boys are in
school - elementary. secondary and univer-
sity.
