The Father Stephen Eckert Council of the
Knights of Columbus held their annual
turkey bingo on Sunday in the St. Columban
Church hall with a large crowd attending.
Twelve games for a freshly killed turkey'
and four share -the -wealth games were
played,
Winners of the turkeys were: Tracy De
long (3 ), Sue Rau (2 ), Luella Murphy, Gloria
Glanville, Stephen Ryan (2 ), Leo Hagan,
Doug Thompkins and Roy McGonigle.
Consolation prizes went to Mary Kurtz,
Nell Doyle and Pat O'Reilly, .
Share -the -Wealth games were won by:
game 1 Mrs. 13111 Austin ($39.75), game 2,
Jim Cronin ($41 ): game :1 ($11.00 each)
Jennifer Rolph, Freida Shean, Leon Maloney
and Nancy O'Reilly and game 4. Brian
Melady ($46 ).
Two door prizes of $5.00 each were won by
Roy McGonigle and Steve Cronin.
PEOPLE
Pte. John Ryan of Cornwallis, Nova Scotia
spent four days last week with Ron and Mary
Ryan and family. Having completed his basic
training course in the air force branch of the
Canadian Armed Forces, John left on Sunday
forKingston where he will be taking a course
as a teletype operator.
Brian and Jean Harris of Kitchener visited
on the weekend with Ray and Vera Murray.
John and Mary Moylan of Brighton visited
on the weekend with Mary Melady.
Mrs. Sipek• mother of Father A. Sipek
arrived here last Thursday from Yugoslavia
and is, staying with Father Sipek at the St.
Coluhrban rectory.
Ted and Frances Melady, Joe and Loretta
Shea. Joe and Mamie Delaney. Jim and
Dorothy Delaney and Annie Chapin attended
an 80th birthday party for their sister Evelyn
O'Neil on Saturday in Windsor.

Advent and its call to people to rejoice He
also shared some of his experiences in his
work as a missionary in the Inner•('ity

Advent Ceremony Mrs Ivan Norris played a
medley of Christmas carols as a prelude and

TOP MEMBER — The Vincent Farm Equipment trophy, donated by Vincent Farm
Equipment of Seaforth, went to Dave Kelly of RR 5, Seaforth. The award, given to the 4-H
member with the highest point standing In the Machinery Club, was presented by club
leader and Vincent employee, Peter Vande Borne. Mr. Kelly flnlehed with 902 points out of a

Operation Christmas tree
in effect in post offices
For the second year in a row• post offices
across Huron Division (southwestern Ontar-.
io r will be serving as collection points for gifts
and groceries for the less fortunate this
Christmas season. thanks to a joint effort by
Canada Post Corporation and the Salvation
Army
1)ubbed •'Operation Christmas Tree," the
program invites postal customers to leave a
small gift or grocery item under the
Christmas tree in the lobby while visiting
their meal post office. A total of 21 larger
offices have been designated as drop-off
points where Salvation Army Staff will make
regular pick-ups during December. Smaller
offices participating in the program can send
tolleoed items to a drop-off centre, or donate
them to a meal charity.
