Seaforth Legion sees its busiest week
LEGION

Last week was one of the busiest weeks the
Branch has had for sometime. The high
school, St. James and the Public School, not
having a holiday this year, asked members of
the Branch to papticipate in their Remem-
brance services. Jack Eisler spoke to the
Publie School students and George Miller to
the Separate School. Six attended the high
school service which was taped and later
shown on Channel 12 on the high school halt'
hour show on Wednesday evenings at 6:15
p.m. along with the Remembrance service
held at the Cenotaph at 11 a.m.
The service at the Cenotaph was well
attended by Legion members and by the
citizens of Seaforth and surrounding country.
The service was in charge of Padre Comrade
Major Frank Golding. Reverend Archie
Robertson of the Bethel Bible Church gave
the address. After the service lunch was
served at the Legion by the Ladies of the
Auxiliary and a potluck supper was held in
the evening.
Barbara and Gordon Scott attended the
service at Parkwood Hospital in the afternoon
with Glenn and Jean Bridge oi' Brussels and
Steve McGuire of Clinton representing Zone
CI and District C. Zone A6 were in charge of
arrangements and Senator Charles Turner
gave the address.
The euchres got started last Wednesday
with eight tables in play and will be continued

Resident celebrates 91st

gave each one a poppy.
Rev. Archie Robertson of Bethel Bible
Church conducted worship services on

Caruana had to cancel mass on Friday
afternoon,
Thursday afternoon volunteers and resi-
dents played euchre. W inners were Lucy
Bezzo and Ed Dunn with consolation going to
Jas. Nolan and Irene Omand. Most tone
hands went to Frank Smale. Prizes were
donated by Marjorie Maloney and lunch
Mary Chapple.
Residents enjoyed an Abbott and Costello
film on Friday afternoon.

Seaforth Health Care Facility's annual
bazaar will be Saturday afternoon, November
22 at 2 p m. Volunteers have been selling
tickets on the Colonial Lady quilt.
Seaforth seniors attend seminar
Members of the Seaforth senior commun-
ity attended the "1986 Solicitor General's
Crime Prevention Seminar" held recently in
SI Thomas. Hazel McNaughton, Jean
Pinder. Ethel Heist and Betty Felker
accompanied Police Chief Hal Claus to the
seminar, which had as its theme. Safety for
Seniors.
Following a speech by Solicitor General
Ken Keyes the seniors. representing 34
police districts from W radon to Tilsonburg,
broke into three seminars to discuss steps
they could take to protect themselves and
their possessions and property.
Seniors were told to be aware of the "bank
manager scam" where someone posing as a
hank manager asks them to withdraw their

locks are on their doors, and'if they leave the
area for any length of time to take the proper
precautions with neighbors and -or police. if a
senior enters their home to find it has been
ransacked they were told not to touch
anything since that would eliminate finger-
prints

carrying purses with long straps. These they
were told, are an attraction to thieves, who
can pull on the purse strap and often knock its
owner to the ground. in the case of seniors.

Mrs. Art Wright, 104 John Street received
the sad news on Thursday, November 13 last
week of the passing of her dear sister, Audrey
(Mrs. J.E. Seymour) of Oshawa, Ontario due
to a very severe stroke. Funeral service was
held in Oshawa on Saturday, November 15
from the Armstrong Funeral Home, King St.,
Oshawa, Ontario.
Douglas Wright of Kanata, Ontario spent
the weekend with his parents Mr. and Mrs.
Art Wright on John Street. Douglas came
home to celebrate his mother's birthday on
Friday, November 14. Douglas also visited
with his brother Donald and his wife Marilyn
and family in Clinton over the past weekend.

It being Armistice day the royal call was
answered by naming one thing that the war
years have imprinted on your memory.
