Express manoeuvers the ball around his opponents In tournament broomball action Saturday. Nash eventually put the ball In th? net to tie the game 1-1 In the last seconds. of the game. (Mcllwraith photo) Dumpers make light of Winthrop MENS BROOM BALL DUMPERS 3 W INTHROP 1 It was quite a reversal in form for the old guys last Thursday night. They thrashed • W inthrop by a 3-1 score that really wasn't that close. They made like tortoises and hobbled to a 2-1 loss to the Grads a week before. It was a match in which the Dumpers gave every indication that you can't play this game and reside in a senior citizen's home at the same time. In reality, however, they possess some of the most skilled players in the league and father time hasn't dulled any of those skills. The Dumpers were the masters this night out and combined with their best effort of the season thoroughly outclassed Winthrop. Gord Dick. Frank Verberne and Dale Kennedy did the damage for the winners. Steve Knight replied for Winthrop. KNIGHTS3 EGMONDVILLE 1 The Knights are a young club that oozes an abundant amount of high octane energy. They outran and out bumped Egmondville 3-1 last week in a chippy affair. Speedy Joe. Dorssers counted twice for the victors and Larry Bertens added a single score. Steve Haggitt tallied the lone Villagers goal. RAIDERS :1 H.T. ROYALS o The week before H.T. Royals showed up at the rink with four players and forfeited. Last Thursday they had five runners and should have forfeited. The Raider*, who haven't threatened anyone this season, looked positively good, er, well, adequate in pasting the Royals 3 to goose egg. Jeff Campbell had a couple for the Raiders and rugged Martin De Corte chipped in a solo shot. PARRLNE2 JUNIOR FARM ERS 0 Icing. Offside. Icing. Offside. Icing. Ball over the boards. Offside. Icing. Ball over the boards. Get the picture? These two outfits gave new meaning to the words dull and boring. Junior Farmers and Parriine battled ??? through almost an hour of totally unimagina- tive, virtually deceased broomball that saw the latter grab? Steal? Earn? The two point win. HAVARTI BUTTER CHEESE LB. 3.49 Paul Gibbings, whose number, 69, is more exciting than his team, scored once for Parrline. Mark Schoebi had the other. C.11. EXPRESS 7 MITCHELL I The Mitchell Mustangs were in way over their collective heads in this one. C.H. Express, a team that has resembled the pizza express at times this year, turned it on and gave us one good show against a squad that has been playing everyone tough. It took C.H. half a period to get rollicking and rolling and once they did it was no contest. Marc Robinet scored three pretty goals to lead Express to the triumph. . Mike Flanagan had a pair with Bob Nash and Murray Houston finishing things off with solo efforts. Bob Cook managed the lone Mustang marker. EASY RIDERS 0 CH ISELH QRST 0 Chiselhurst had only two extra bodies but still posed a defensive problem that Easy Riders just couldn't solve. The Green Machines lack of continuity combined with their poorest outing of the season was enough to allow a short-staffed Chiselhurst squad to steal a single point.
