St. Columban CWL invited to
Exeter penny sale and bazaar

The St. Columban Catholic Women's
League (CW L) met in the rectory meeting
room on Monday, November 3 with 18
members present.
The minutes of the last meeting the
treasurer's report and correspondence were
read.
An invitation was received from the
Precious Blood C.W . L" of Exeter to their
penny sale and bazaar on November 19 at the
Exeter Legion Hall at 7 p.m.
Angelina Swart reported on the Deanery
meeting she and Luella. Murphy attended in
Mt. Carmel in October. The speakers Father
Sharpe of Stratford who spoke on marriage,
Sister Rita Coyne of Goderich, spoke on
vocations and John Devlin, of Stratford,
• spoke about the Pro-life movement, were all
very interesting and informative.
The McKillop Federation of Agriculture
dinner will be held on November 18 in the St.
Columban Church Hall with the C.W.L.
ladies catering.
On Sunday, November 16 the St. Colum -
ban Catholic Women's League will be
celebrating their 65th anniversary. The
C.W .L. banner, recently purchased, will be
carried in the procession before Holy Mass
and displayed in the sanctuary. Following.
Mass coffee and donuts will be served in the
church hall.
Roll call was answered by each lady telling
her highlight of the summer.
A prayer for vocations was said bringing
the meeting to a close.
4-H REPORT
The McKillop no. 4. 4-H Bone Builders
held their Halloween Party at Ricki Van-
steelandt's home on October 28. Sandra
Claessens, Cheryl Shewan and Lori Cronin
made pizzas for the members and their
guests. Carol Ryan supplied the games.
The seventh meeting was held on Novem-
ber 4 at Carol Ryan's home, During this
meeting jobs were given to the girls in
preparation for achievement night to be held
on November 19 in Clinton. A light lunch was
enjoyed. Club members were reminded to
hand in their books for marking by Friday.
There will be one more meeting before
achievement night to finalize plans for setting
up the exhibits.
The Bone Builders wish to thank Ricki
Vansteelandt and Carol Ryan for their
guidance and leadership in this club and the
St. Columban C.W.L. for sponsoring them,

Ted and Frances Melady, Tom and Joanne
Melady, Pat Ryan, Lori Lynn and Chris of
Thamesford and Debbie, Brian and Sean
Melady spent Sunday, November 2 with
Anne and Wayne Chapin and Vanessa to
celebrate W illiam's fourth birthday. After
dinner everyone enjoyed a trip to the bush.
Grandma Bea Chapman phoned from
Brandon, Manitoba with birthday greetings
for William.
Also attending the birthday celebration
were Bradley M urray, Sara and Barry Noakes
and Jackie Cronin.
Claire and Marie Oldham of London,
Delaine Cronin, Dale Cronin of Dublin, Susan
Coveney of Mitchell, Frank Cronin, -Clarence
and Cecilia Ryan, Frank Nolan and Mark
Ryan spent Sunday with Gerry and Karen
Ryan and family on the occasion of Jeremy's
second birthday. Some games of euchre and a
dinner with a Bert and Ernie birthday cake
was enjoyed by all.
The Murray Brothers of Dublin held their
annual euchre party at Cyril's place in the
bush at the boundary of Perth and Waterloo
County on Saturday evening. The third,
fourth and youngest of the Murray boys won
but the other three gave them a good run at it.
All the trimmings were enjoyed by all.
A surprise birthday party for the upcoming
65th birthday on November 17 of Don
MacRae of Dublin was held at the home of
Mike and Pat MacRae in Dublin on Sunday.
Upon the arrival of Don and Eileen he was
welcomed by Nelson Howe and his bagpipes
of Staffa.
Guests attending the celebration were
Don's sister Anne and her husband Al Hattan
of Sarnia, sister Rita Gooding of London, his
brother Ken MacRae of Washington, D.C.,
daughter Nora Ann and friend fan of London,
son J.D. MacRae and his wife Marg and
children Jenny and Ian of London, and son
Mike and his wife Pat and children Curtis,
Marci, Denise and Joey of Dublin.
A delicious turkey and ham dinner with all
the trimmings was served by Pat and Mike
and a birthday cake made by Marg MacRae
completed the meal.
The 40th birthday on November 9 of J.D.
MacRae was also celebrated on Sunday.

The Rev. J. W m. Milne, Mitchell, who is
interim moderator for the Exeter-Hensall-
Cromarty charge of the Presbyterian Church,
conducted the worship service November 2.
Mr. Milne, who was formerly a missionary
in India, spoke on the theme Worldly and
Spiritual Goals,
On November 9 Lucie A. Milne, graduate
of Knox College and Licentiate of the
Presbyterian Churcn, will be in charge.
AROUT PEOPIE
Muriel Scott, Edna Stoneman, Helen
Parsons, Mary Elliott and Ruth Laing
attended the Perth Presbyterial Fall Rally in
Avonton recently. The guest speakers for the
afternoon session were Clarence and Cather-
ine McMullen who are on furlough from their
work in India.
Mr, and Mrs. Robert Laing and Tom were
present at a Jefferson family gathering
celebrating the 40th wedding anniversary of
Bill and Mary (Jefferson 1 Chessell of Varna.
The party was held at FLllarton Hall and
guests were present from Toronto, Sault Ste,
Marie, Windsor, Dorchester, Stratford, lis -
towel, Munro and Cromarty.
Kay Ross of Thamesford, was guest
speaker at a recent Staffa institute meeting.
She also visited with her friend, Lillian
Douglas, overnight and Thursday,
George Douglas has received word that the
fox which he and his sister Kathy, discovered
in the stable a week ago Sunday was rabid.
Having shot it, he stored it in three garbage
bags in the freezer until it was picked up for
testing. Some 200 beef cattle in the barn are
now under quarantine.
If aaydne would like kittens, the Bob
Laings have umpteen to give away - all sizes
and colors.
Citizenship meeting set for next Wednesday

The Citizenship meeting of Kippen East
will be held next Wednesday at 12:30 p.m.
Members will meet at Miller's Barn for
Ladies Aid quilt
Members of the First Presbyterian Church
ladies Aid did some quilting at their recent
meeting.
Edith McMillan was in charge of the
program of the meeting. She gave different
readings. The president opened the meeting
with a poem.
A lunch was served by Mrs, McMillan.
Members are reminded the December
meeting is a luncheon at noon. Members are
also to have their pennies in to the captains by
November 17.
