FRAISER: In loving memory of my husband
Jack Fraiserwho passed away November 13,
1977.
He is gone but not forgotten,
And, as dawns another year,
In our lonely hours of thinking,
Thoughts of him are always near,
Days of sadness will come o'er us,
Many think the wound is healed,
But they little know the sorrow,
That lies in the heart concealed.
Remembered by wife Gerry, son Wayne

problem," said Mr. Partridge.
However, Mr. Partridge disagreed with
county council's stance that the new law will
make the library system more accountable.
"Their argument was accountability. They
have all the power now. They just want it
more," he said, referring to the fact that four
county council members already sit on the
Library Board.
However. he said there is a number of
benefits that will go along with the changing
of the Library Board to a committee. He said
the library system will be given a higher
profile in council and in the community.
Job searching
"They'll deal with the library in a
different way and• that's good," he said.
h3sa Haydon, a columnist with the
Goderich Signal -Star and one of the people
who spoke against the change of status for the
library board at the meeting, said the
decision by the standing to approve the
dissolution of the board was 'obviously
political." The standing committee vote on
the matter was tied with the four liberal
members voting in favor while the two
Conservative and two NDP members voting
against it. while the chairman, also a liberal
voting in favor.
She said she opposed the library board
change as county council's argument for
"more control" of the library system was
invalid, as sufficient controls are already in
place with four of the seven board members
appointed by county council.
Janis Bisback of Hensall, a member -at -
large on the Library Board, also gave a
presentation at the standing committee
hearings in opposition to dissolving the
board.
W hike she is against, the decision to change
the board to a committee, she is willing to
work within the framework of the law. She
also was disappointed that the standing
committees did not have a chance to
summarize why they voted either for or
against the change to the board.

The best way to contact with an

'Putting a face to a name makes an
impression. It shows Initiative and it gives
you a chance to see the organization.' Ms.
Coulter said.
Personal contact communicates friendli-
ness and interest. And. it's harder for people
to say no when you meet them in person."
Ms. Coulter doers not suggest making an
unexpected visit on an employer. She says
that the telephone can be used as an effective
tool to set up an appointment with an
employer. Then. at the time of the Interview,
also present your resume.
Who to contact? Ms. Coulter said that
many job searchers make the mistake of
dealing directly with personnel departments
only.
She suggests. "Contact as many people
within the aompany as possible, the manager
and the employees. Seek wntact with the
person vitro has the authorization to hire you.

TIME RUM <
Resume writing is a topic in itself that is
Studied at length in counselling sessions at
Womanpower.
Ms. Coulter said. "The employer wants to
know about your education, experiences, why
you want to work, your skills."
Job Search. a book prepared by the Ontario
Women's Directorate says the resume should
include personal identification. education,
work experience. activities and interests
(optional), career aims or goals (optional) and
references upon request.
Of teeniest int t eq, "the muffle is all
outline of your qualifications, paid and
unpaid wort experience, and personal
information that you feel relates best to the
job you are seeking, it should be prepared in
such a way that the employer can quickly
assess why you could be a good candidate for
the job,' the booklet nates.
ft also reports. "drib seekers often assume
that only executives and professional people
need resumes. Today people at all levels of
employment should have one, as it can be a
valuable asset in a job search. Maximize your
chances by using every tool available."
In short, the entire job search process
means using all available tools, avenues and
information to makaa difficult chore an easier
one, and perhaps asuccessful one too.
Gone are the days when the young woman
could pick the Helps W anted sign out of the
window and secure a jab on the spot. Gone
are the days when the people who really
needed the jobs got the jobs.
As his. Coulter noted, "Employers don't
hire people they feel sorry for. They hire
people they think can do the job."
E&h day thousands of people compete for
limited job opportunities and each day
employers filter through pilesofresumes and
jab applications in search of the best person
for the job.
Too frequently we sell ourselves short in
our job search endeavors. but, today a variety
of services offer information. support
guidance to aidin this ever -developing skill.
The Ontario Woman's Directorate book
notes. "Looking for a job is a fulitim'e job. To
find a position that is `right' for you will take
careful planning. an assertive approach and
time. You don't want to stumble into the first
available job and then spend years regretting
it.
"A significant part of your lifetime will be
spent in your jobs. Lidless you enjoy them,
