LADIES BROOM BALL
QUEENS 6 PERTII
The Queens ladies rebounded from a tough
loss to Parrline to whip Perth 6-1 last
Wednesday night.
Cheryl Kruse had a pair of goals and set up
two others to kid the Queens to the easy
triumph.
Jean Haggitt aided the cause by also
connecting twice while singles went to Lynn
Devereaux and Audrey Smith.
Doreen Hartman tallied the lone Perth
score.
PARRLJNE:1 W INT1LROPO
The Parrline juggernaut continued to roll
on last week, The latest victim to fall to the
big red machine was Winthrop. The 3-0 final
count is not as one sided as it looks.,
With Perri ine leading 1.0, W inthrop's Deb
Murray had apparently tied the match but a
controversial call by the ref disallowed the
score. The zebra claimed another teammate
was taking up space in the Parrline goal
crease.
And guess what happened then? Well,
Parrline sallied down the ice and rudely
popped in another score to effectively pour
cold water on Winthrop's fire.
Sharon Whitfield led the winners by
notching two goals. Joan Henderson had the
other marker.
COM MERCIAL2JUNIOR FARM ERS O
Yes, that score above is not a misprint.
Indeed, the Commercial squad did win
themselves a game last Wednesday evening.
Cheryl Campbell, on a Gretzky like
manoeuver, rapped in the winner on a nice
set up from Bev Shea.

CH IS ELH U RST 3 PA RRLIN E 0
Chiselhurst got back on the winning trail by
downing Parrline 3 -nil last Thursday night.
They struggled early against an improving
Parrline squad but grabbed the win on goals
by Gary Dill, Dan Maloney and Les Falconer.
EASY RIDERS I KNIGHTS 0
Easy Riders continued unbeaten by edging
the Knights 1-0 in a well played. match.
The victors earned the tough win when
Gard Henderson rapped in the only goal late
in the first period.
Easy Riders controlled all but the last
couple of minutes when the Knights pulled
their goalie and exerted tremendous pres-
sure. They weathered the storm and were
deserving of the two points.
JUNIOR FARMERS 1 H.T. ROYALS 0
Some Junior Farmers showed up but fewer
Royals appeared for this game. The latter
defaulted so I guess that is just about it for
this affair.
C.H. EXPRESS 6 RA LDERS
The difference between C.H, Express and
the Raiders can be measured by light years.
The Express blanked the Raiders 6-0 but
realistically, the score could easily have
reached the high teens.
The losers seemed content to stand around
and let C. H. run roughshnd around, over and
through their porous defence. In fact, the
Raiders had just one shot on net while C -H
hammered more than 40 at goalie. Tom
Turner who should have got a medal for
bravery beyond the call.
Bobby Nash scored twice and set up four
others to lead his club to the easy win.
Brett Finlayson, Marc Robinet, Dale
Kennedy and Bill Meyers chipped in singles
to finish off the scoring.
GRADS2 DUMPERS I
The old boys were just not into this one.
The Grads outran the Dumpers and were
rewarded with a deserving 2-1 conquest last
Thursday.
Robert Wydeven and Mike Vandenheuvel
were the Grads marksmen while Brad
Finlayson managed the over the hill mobs
lone goal. '
WINTRHOPI MITCHELL
The Mustangs had it then tossed it away
with Mitchell leading 1 -zip and controlling
the play, Murray Siemon took

Winthrop went to the attack and with net
empty in favor of an extra attacker, Dave
Linton equalized with just 33 seconds left on
the dock.

FUNERAL DIRECTOR
THE FUNERAL IS OVER,
WHAT MORE CAN I DO?
When someone we are close to loses a
loved one we offer them comfort and
hope by attending the wake and funeral
services. These activities are very
helpful because a period of grieving is
needed as an emotional outlet. they
help the survivors to accept the
deceased's death through the presence
of friends and relatives.
But, a feeling of emptiness often follows
when those closest to the deceased are
back home alone after the formalities
are over You might ask yourself- "now
that the funeral is over, what more can I
do to help?"
In his book, Death and Dying, Leonard
Pearson suggests two things: 1. It is
necessary for the bereaved, to have
some time alone to think and finish the
grieving process. 2. At the same time,
frequent-and-short-visitts from friends'
and relatives are in order. .especially
visits which encourage the bereaved to
take part in some activity they enjoy.
Pearson also says that we should visit in
the spirit of real friendship for the
bereaved and not just because they
have lost a loved one. People want air
love, not our pity.
We invite you to consult us for books
and articles on this and other related
subjects
